Hi everyone

i was considering getting guild wars, mainly because i don't want to pay £10 a month for WoW!

I am certain that my actual PC will be able to run guild wars, as i have heard it has quite low specs. But my problem is the graphics "card" - i have an intel intergrated graphics chipset, which isn't very good for gaming

Everything looks good except the Intel graphics chip. I'd probably say it's not worth it to get the game yet cause it would run very poorly on that and probably end up crashing in some places in EoTN or Nightfall.

If you don't care about good graphics or high fps then I guess you could, but you'd be better off upgrading some first for an enjoyable experience, the game looks pretty terrible on low graphics.

Good BIOS, Good CPU - Vista and DirectX10 then you get to the Intergrated card lol.

Yeah, i suggest saving up for a graphics card.

That way, you can play any other games.

well my little brother plays GW on his laptop
intel celeron 1,6Ghz
512MB ram
windows xp and an 8MB internal videocard.
GW works woth everything in low, 600*800 about 15~20 fps lol

Same thing I had in the early days.. Only problem I had with the Chipset (besides having to run at pretty low specs) was it wouldn't load one area in Nightfall. I'm sure there's a few areas like that in EotN as well.

If you can run Vista, you can run GW. Yes, your graphics card is crap and will probably bring down your GW experience, but you know that already.

yes i looked on http://www.intel.com/support/graphic.../CS-020666.htm and gw is on there

i'm sure that it will run poorly but it should be okay until beginning of march when i'm planning to get a new graphics card, preferably something like a Nvidia 8800 gt

problem is, i don't know what kind of slots i have. can i find out on DxDiag? if not, how can i?

The best option is to get some sort of mid-range graphics card for your machine. You'd need to check to see if the machine has a graphics card slot, and get the appropriate type (probably PCI-e). You may need to check the wattage of the power supply too, to make sure it has enough to run the card you are considering.

(You may need to get into the BIOS to disable the on-board graphics as well. You may be able to get the place you buy a new card from, to install it for you.)

If you are still running a P4 then your computer may very well have AGP slot instead of PCI-e, but the best way to check it to just take off the side of the case and have a look see. If you plan to get a new video card sometime in the near future you will need to take it off anyways.

I strongly advice that you avoid GW with your current graphics situation... it will be much more enjoyable for you if you have a real video card of almost any sort (and by that I mean it will actually be playable and therefore enjoyable).

no. pentium 4 uses hyperthreading, which gives a "virtual" second core and allow it to run two threads at once.

a pentium D, which is basically two pentium 4's glued together, will show up as "4" CPUs.

haha any pci-e video card will do the job it seems. Some integrated chipsets do ok, but the ones ive used have problems with pvp maps.

I have a 7800GT pci-e works great for GW's for 30 bucks shipped'd paypal'd. if interested pm me haha.

i'm getting a minimum of about 8fps when i 1st enter a city but thats very rare, its usually about 15fps in towns and about 30 in explorable areas!

Got all the req, you got enough display memory, cpu, ram all that, but the graphic card suck.
But it isnt that bad that its going to lagg, but only degrade the experience of GW.
But you could just installed the game and tried, instead of posting a thread.
Goes much faster that way :P

If you are going to play GW on that computer, which I do not recommend. You will want to force GW into DX8 mode.
