Yup, the dreaded bsod.

something about minidump file and app data\local\temp sys data file problems (I've got the BC code and BCP numbers if that helps.

Ok, only happens when I am playing GW. I can use my computer for everything else just fine. But, GW (the only game i really play) goes down anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours. Random. Sometimes the screen just freezes when I am playing GW.

I have checked and cleaned up my registry files. I have moved the computer up and clear of anything for better air flow. I opened it up sprayed canned air around to clear dust. (there wasn't much) I checked for latest video driver updates. All my fans appear to be working fine.

Speed Fan temps are pretty high even when just using the web.

Right Now about 20 minutes after latest crash:
GPU 55C
Temp1 73C
Temp2 36C
Temp3 24C
CPU -64C
Internal Temp 45C
Remote Temp -64C
Core 65C

Most of those numbers get as much as 20 to 30 C more when GW is running. I've seen Temp1 as high as 107!!!
Not sure what all the different temps mean, but i know it ain't good.

I am running Windows 7 ultimate on this.

AMD 64 dual core 6000+ 3.01 Ghz
4GB
64 bit

My graphics is NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512

Is it the graphics card? Can it run hot on it's own even with proper cooling if it is defective? The mother board? Suystem RAM?

I put this in the right area, right?

So I downloaded this program called Speccy. It shows all your hardware info and some temps.

So right now just webbing I got:

67C on the CPU.
40C motherboard.
58C graphic card.

That's a bit warm, right?

I tend to get freezes on my other old computer while playing guild wars due to heating issues, however no blue screens.

An idea would be to open your event viewer and look for what the error log states for your system.

Chances are It's either heating issues, or another piece of faulty hardware/software (I know, durr, it can't really be much else, but just saying)

Another thing you could try is to open your computer and watch for any anomalies while playing guild wars, normally if something is overheating you will be able to feel it from that component and may even see whether or not it is the stock cooling.

Edit: forgot to mention, try downloading a free benchmarking tool, run that and see if it still crashes.

Gee Zuss, it was only 4.5 hours between your posts. This is just a fan-based forum, not some 24/7 help line with paid staff. Personally, I normally only check this forum once a day, and I don't hang around.

Your CPU is running dangerously hot, perhaps your video card as well. Try to have the temperature sensor program running while you are playing GW and then alt tab out and quickly check the temperatures and post what they are here (while still under load).

Also, what kind of case fans do you have? & What's the ambient temperature?

Sorry, didn't mean to be snarky...just frustrated...

The higher temps I referred to (the 107C ...) was when GW was running.

I blew out the computer already and there was not much dust. Some, but not a lot.

The fans all seem to be clear and running properly.

I even moved the case up on top of my desk for better air flow.

I am suspecting the CPU is heating everything up. Maybe the fan on it isn't moving enough air? It's working though.

The fans are the stock fans that came with the AeroCool case.

I'm not going to fire up GW again until I get this figured out. I'm going to go into another case that my son has. He says it is a better case than this one. Although this one seems to have a good design. I am also going to get a heftier fan for the CPU.

Meanwhile to my backup comp to continue on my road to GWAMM.

Anymore suggestions or ideas would be welcomed.

And I apologize again for my snarkiness. I get like that when I am frustrated.

No prob - tech problems are some of the most frustrating things on earth - to me, at least!

A new heatsink/fan should do the trick - make sure to get a decent TIM like Arctic Silver 5 while you're at it.

That GPU temp isnt to bad actually for an 8800, when i had mine it would run into the high 70's low 80's when gaming, they seriously run at some temps,

The CPU temp is to high though, id be checking the cooler on it, to make sure its still got a good seal to the CPU etc espically if you or someone else may have been inside the comp recently ,

On your BSOD does it give an actual error, usually if its a driver of software related it will tell you that a certain file has caused the error.

The other thing is, how old is your 8800, i had 2 of them in SLI and they both died within about 3 months of each other, as they just pasted the 3 year mark, they are well known for that too, everyone that i personally know that has had one, has had theirs die.

bsods are usually quite informative if you can read them. go in to bios and set your computer to NOT reboot on crash, so when the bsod pops up it stays up. write down the error code (usually a really long sequence of 0's and a few other chars) then reboot the system. take your trusty error code to the windows kb & chances are it'll tell you not only what the problem is but also how to fix it.

why do I get the feeling this is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+...I think its cause it says it at the bottom of the OP :P

Anyways, looking this up the overheat temperature is at 63° C. You may want to get a new heatsink and fan.

I am a happy man.

So I took out the old CPU fan. And man, when I got it out to where I could actually see it.......phew.......PACKED..I mean packed with dust so thick you could not blow it out. No wonder it was heating up. Plus the old silver was almost gone.

Put a Zalman CNPS9700LED fan in it's place. This thing is about three times the size of the old one and a much bigger heat sink in it. Added a new layer of Arctic Silver ...AND

I just got finished with a three hour session with GW.

Under load the CPU stays in the 40s...low 40s at that

(no load in the low 30s)

And the GPU peaks in the high 60s which I guess for this card is fairly normal. (no load in the high 50s)

Also decided to stay in the case I am already in.

So thank you guys for helping me talk myself through this mess.

GWAMM here I come...

Yes. Once I got the computer unplugged and laying on it's side, I got in there with better light and cleaned out everything. But, nothing was anywhere near as bad as the CPU fan. That thing was just gross. Couldn't really see it before and I feel foolish now that I missed how packed with dust it was, but we all good now!
