Fix for FPS dropping to below 10 for vista
After searching for days to find why my computer with 6g of RAM and 640GB hard drive space was having horrible fps lag I found that task manager was automatically reverting the priority of guildwars to low even tho I was only using 8% of my computers over all resources according to the resource moniter.
This let me know it was a software problem not a computer problem.
After manually setting the game to high priority it would run great for about a minute, then automatically be set to low priority and revert to the 5 FPS per sec.
To fix this simply push cntrl + ALT+ Delete and go to the proccess disable any proccesses not being used & then go to services and disable "multimedia class scheduler" as this is the program vista has that automatically changes the priority of your multimedia programs to "INCREASE"(lol!) computer performance.
Hope this helps some others dealing with this issue.

GW will automatically drop itself to low priority if you alt tab out, which makes your entire claim baseless. run GW in a window and have task manager open at the same time. while you have GW as your primary window, gw.exe will show up as "normal".
your low FPS is probably caused more by not having a graphic card, or one that isn't any good, than anything to do with vista.

Vista was a horrible expirement done by Microsoft. The architechure of Vista differed from the two other reliable Windows 2000 engine systems that were 2000 and XP. Windows 7 they went back to their ol' reliable engine and no one wants to look back at vista. Vista DVD's should be burned...then have it's DVD ashes burned again then buried....no, that wouldn't even be enough of a justice for all the headaches and freak outs it caused.
I'd get Windows 7 64bit if I were you. I've had people face to face tell me its the next Windows XP in terms of stablity, driver support..blahblahblah. I've also had people face to face tell me Vista was as shitty as I described in the above paragraph, lol.

i find this incredibly ironic, considering that windows 7 and vista are essentially the same thing. they even use more or less the same kernel.
currently, vista and 7 are nearly equal in terms of stability. much of vista's earlier woes were caused by third parties writing bad drivers.

All due respect, I don't hate you Moriz, lol...but I honestly don't see how what you just said can possibly hold any value.

With no undue respect, you can't see why Moriz is correct because you're an ignorant fanboy.
Windows 7 and vista are more closely related than Windows Xp and 7. In fact they're very closely related - again, moriz is correct in that Microsoft had problems in communicating the requirements and such for driver development.

Windows 7 keeps dropping it to low priority as well.
Vista *had* issues, but the big one's were taken care of when:
Service Pack 1 came out
Hardware drivers took a while to mature
Right now, vista can give you a solid, reliable OS.
Vista and 7 use the *same* hardware driver model.
That's why 9 times out of 10, if your missing a Win7 driver, you can install the vista one.

No. It was a terrible piece of shit OS. I'm talking about how XP and 7 are similar in terms of reliablity, just like how I said that In my post. Now, I wouldn't be shit talking Vista if Microsoft didn't randomly make Win 7 after all the Vista problems, but they did, so I am.
Ignorant fanboy, ROFL.

Been using Vista for 2 years, everyday, several hours a day, and no problems at all. Don't know what people think that makes Vista so bad, because for me it isn't.

So has this just degraded into a vista v. win 7 v. xp battle? and it hasn't been closed yet? intriguing...

ignorant computer users just like to regurgitate what they've heard. much of the hate towards vista is completely unfounded. once the drones start yapping away, vista could've turned into bars of solid gold and they'll still think its shit. fortunately for windows 7, the drones went the other way this time.
i've used vista for well over a year before i started using windows 7. i had zero crashes, zero driver issues, and zero headache during that time. i didn't even install SP1 for well over four months. the system was so stable, that i thought i'd installed it already.

What's all this, then?
Tut.
Play nice or I'll force you all to revert to Windows ME.
