Guild Wars, Where Logging In Is Half The Battle! (Resolved)
The only game to date that has given me more trouble logging in has been Battlefield 2 and its numerous account merges and couplings. I am, once again, found locked outside my account, even though I have all the appropriate information at hand (password, email, character name).
I've reset the password at least three times so far, and nothing.
I've tried every character that could possibly be on the account. Nothing.
I've tried both the in-game and master account password resets, and the in-game one doesn't even give me a response. In addition, trying to request the password for my "support account" which it also will not let me log into also results in no e-mail.
I contacted support last night, got an e-mail this morning simply asking me for a bunch of information and keys, and after scouring what I could (the original jewel case for my launch copy appears LONG gone) I haven't heard a thing back from them since.
This is considerably frustrating at this point because I don't even know WHY its rejecting the login because all I get is the ultra vague "One of the three things you entered might be slightly wrong, try to guess what it is 8D!" message constantly.

Try a fresh install, people have reported the same problem you've had and have on occasion remedied it this way.
If that doesn't work, give it some time; sometimes (albeit *very* rarely) networking between yourself and the servers is to blame and will resolve itself with time. I had this same problem for a little while after all of my information was reset, but it resolved itself after I gave it some time.
Requesting too many passwords at once, or going through different sources to do so has caused me trouble as well, specifically when the "Character Name" security feature was added.
Don't get frustrated, try to be patient, and give the system time.

Already did a complete wipe and reinstall, leaving me with the only other option apparently being the "magic" of whenever the login actually decides to work or not. Fantastic /=

Just be patient with support. They resolve 99% of these situations given time.

I would be more patient if I wasn't waiting two and a half days to hear anything back on a login issue that shouldn't even be happening by all reason given that I have all the information.

Having the same problem
I have been having the same problem after the Apr29 update...never had this issue before, was logged in last night before the update no problem. This morning, it all went bad.
I have contact support but have yet to receive a reply...
*If i reset my password will I have to enter the email that my account is registered to or will it simply ask me to type in a new password?*

yea this morning [apr 30th] i logon fine, and my wife gets err=227 not recognizing her login info even though we were both playing yesterday.
she is getting close to her god title and has been playing since release, we don't even live in the same country anymore let alone have the original account email, so requesting a change of password [even if it works] could make the problem worse if the only way to activate it is from a non existant email.
how does something like this even happen, we both paid for 2 copies of all the guild wars games/expansions. either your account info is right or its not, how it can change cus of a minor update doesn't make sense.
why should i be patient for such a horrible error?! the landlord isn't patient with me if i don't pay the rent, the grocery store isn't patient if i don't pay for my food, well i bought my guild wars account a long time ago, and as far as im concerned my property has just been stolen...

Sent an update to the e-mail this morning to see if there was any way to get this resolved BEFORE the weekend when they close, and surprise, nobody responded the entire day. Fantastic.
Looks like GW2 is out of the question now. If there is a completely random chance my account is just going to "not work" for no reason, and then you can't get a hold of any support for it, I'm not going to bother letting another account essentially disappear again. Not to mention the principal that I'm essentially getting screwed out of any of the stuff that's transferring from GW1 to GW2 be it titles or whatever.

I am having the exact same problem. Definitely have the right account name/password/character name. Tried logging on - nothing happened. Tried resetting password - received nothing in my inbox.
The support service is absolutely terrible. I sent off all my access keys/everything five days ago. They replied saying that they were escalating my ticket and that somebody would get in contact with me "soon" three days ago.
Why is it taking them so long to authenticate me as the account holder? I've contacted other companies in the past for support issues and they've gotten back promptly and sorted it out within 1-2 days. This is twice now from NCSoft that they have let me down.

thats exactly what im thinking, my acc is still working for login, hers just randomly dissapeared. we've been looking forward to gw2 ever since it was announced they would start working on it, but no way i would buy it if this could happen again.
unfortunately, many peoples accounts still seem to be working and i don't think they care at all that your account and a few others just disapeared or that we won't be playing and nc soft games again...ever.

Looks like my support ticket was just escalated which I can only hope means "sent for actual troubleshooting" rather than the guys that cover the easy crap for them like password retrieval. I'm interested in how long this is going to take all told, and if its going to get fixed in the end or not.

Personally, I've never had a problem logging into GW except when there has been a network error somewhere.
The only things I can suggest are the obvious ones like:
- make sure you are using your original account name and spelling it correctly. I know it sounds dumb, but I've known of people who've tried to enter their current e-mail address as an account name and expected it to work.
- make sure you are spelling the password and character name correctly. The password is case-sensitive.
- your account may have been hacked at some point.
- the random login failures may actually be caused by network connection issues. And, please don't say "my internet works" - the internet is not just one long wire, it's more like a "web", and your path to any one part of the web may be flaky.

Just have to be patient as they said, 2 1/2 days is nothing, I had to wait for 2 weeks for any email at all last time I reset my password.

Double checked the account name when I reset the password the first time. It's linked to a master account. I changed the password on several different occasions. It hasn't been hacked and there is no connection issue. I do tech support for a living, double checking this crap was step one before I even thought of contacting someone. Odds are, something got screwed during an account merge or with their password reset system at some point. I know the account system has been changed at least once since the last time I played, and I had issues the first time when the thing was merged with the master accounts. Considering I'm not getting any e-mail from the in-game password reset system, I'm thinking something is fubar somewhere with the account that should not be. I don't know how the whole web of original GW accounts/linked master accounts is setup, so I really can't say, but there's no reasonable explanation for why I can't login at the moment.

well i got a reply, sent my info came back with a new pw.
...i log in only to find thousands of plat in party points, fow armor, weaopns, sweets, alcohal all stripped clean down to nothing.
now i just came back 3 days before this happened, and only visited wiki, and the LaZy Imperium website. thats the only site related to video games in general i was at. i sent a reply to support about this, but remain pessimistic about ever gaining anything back, or ever completing my god title now.
what a fcking disaster. =(

Well in my case it seems I owe NCsoft a bit of an apology. Not too much of one, as it did take roughly a week to get it resolved, but it was my error. I had completely forgotten that GW requires a surname for characters in the year or so since I've played it, so I had only been entering the first name of my character, so it was rejecting it. They sent me the full name of one of my characters and that's when it clicked with me what was going on. All in all, a bit obnoxious due to the wait, but it was my mistake so I'll bare it. Looking forward to finishing up EoTN and waiting for GW2, hoping they keep their promises on making the game more like an MMO and cut down on the instanced everything a bit with it.
edit: That blows Hidden Dragon /=. "But buying gold doesn't hurt anyone D8!" tell that to everyone who's had their account hacked and stripped so you can get your "1000plat $10 super fast delivery!". I haven't had it happen, but I'm sick of seeing it happen to other people because people are lazy and have to cheat their way through everything.
