Headphone jack override?
Hi, so my headphone plug broke off in the jack, and because it overrides all other outputs on the computer, I can't get any sound. There is absolutely no way I can get it out, I've tried everything from tweezers to superglue. I've also tried unplugging and replugging the wire that connects to the jack into the motherboard, to no avail. In fact, I've done it so many times now that the wire broke off from its plug, so now the headphone jack will not work at all. Still, my computer persists in this state.
I believe my only options now are
a) Get a new sound card? Will this solve my problem? My current one is an integrated realtek ac'97 audio, so it might be worth it to get a new one anyways.
b)Find some way of stopping the override by editing the driver settings.
Does anyone know if it's possible to do step b? I've tried messing with several sound settings, it does not appear that you can do it just by using the standard control panel options.
Thanks for any help.
