i'm currently deployed in iraq and i thought a little gaming at the end of the day would be nice but i can't open the game. i click on the icon and it opens the "connecting to arenanet" window. i thought it would fix its self after a while but after a month i still can't connect. i'm not great on computers so i don't know how to fix it. any ideas? is it just because i'm in iraq?

May be a restriction put on by whoever is providing the service?

you could try a proxy but i dont know if that will work with a game

As for not connecting, I would find out if your base has protocols and security for web access. It might be a simple matter of having Anet's address being listed as acceptable with whoever is in charge of that at your location.

yeah.. could be a couple things... 1- the us has import/export restrictions regarding that and a few other countries.. so it could be government related.. or it could also be the military itself after all the "leaks" to media.. there was something in the news about knuckling down on how the net is used because of it.

hard to say.

I am sure that I have seen examples of soldiers stationed over there playing, so I don't think it is geographic. Check if it is your internet provider putti kind of lock on it. Thank you so much for your service, and I hope you can get this sorted out

thanks every1. to me it seams like it fits the DSN issue so i followed the instructions but it still didn't let me access guild wars. i talked to our IT guy and there are no restrictions on the internet so idk what would cause it not to work. i played at home in hawaii a week b4 we deployed and it worked fine but i get here and it doesn't work.

also the guildwars website won't work because i tried to go to their support page and i couldn't access the site.

Check that your firewall is not blocking guildwars.com
