I had no response from their tech support after trying for several months. Almost a year now. I needed to reset the license number as I upgraded my computer and some of the packs don't have the license left. They asked to email them if I faced this issue and they would reset. But, never got any response back.

If you have the music files on your PC, it should be possible to get the licenses through Windows Media Player - I had the first success yesterday and I believe it has been fixed.
Maybe give it a try and tell us what happens?

While I am sure you allready have the address of support; here it is again: [email protected]. Just tell them what happend then check your account on line. I can not say I have ever gotten an emailed reply from them.
As for what to zip up: There is an article on thier support site that covers what files to zip up, however the article was written for XP and it did not work for me. Here is a link that works if you are using any media player prior to 11. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/0...-usage-rights/ The method listed here will normally work, but I prefer this method: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/0...license-error/ which is copying the files or zipping them up.

Same thing is happening to me. I recently updated my account with a Nightfall collectors edition key and wanted to get the bonus tracks from Direct Song. Managed to find the right area of the site after some time and downloaded the tracks okay but after trying to play them and selecting either permanent or temporary license, there is only an error page.

I just built a new PC and re-installed GW and when attempting to get my directsong tracks going again I keep getting an error message when trying to acquire the licences via windows media player.
I contacted support two days ago but no response.
I hope I can get my licenses back, I hate this stupid DRM stuff.

Ok. First of all, lets face it right now. DRM sucks (as I've said before). But we also need to face this: Every person who legally and rightfully purchased a license key for GW, to play GW, rightfully owns the soundtrack too. I'm sure Mr. Soule got his share from every copy of GW sold. Those mp3's sitting in your dat are yours, simple. They aren't as high quality as the ones on Direct Song, but they sound good. Now, ... as I've said you should rightfully own the music since you purchased the game as well, that shouldn't be a problem going out to a site like FFshrine to look for GW music? You should RIGHTFULLY own these piece of music. For god sake you can rip them from the dat or record them from the game. I don't endorse the ripping, recording or downloading from online, but I'm simply noting the options and your own rights, ffs.
That being said on the more steady path ... it is EQUALLY as easy to fork the cash out and go to ebay or half.com and look for the soundtrack CD's there too. Import them in iTunes as AAC or MP3 or Windows Media Player as WMA and enjoy, your choice. CD's are hard copy and you can rip them freely as many times as you want.
I think jeremy needs to also look into putting the Guild Wars soundtracks on iTunes. I also note there is NO DRM on iTunes anymore to date that I can find and the quality is fantastic.

Edit: Deleted the previous message. DirectSong is BACK! If you go out and redownload each of the packs and follow the instructions included, DirectSong will work again. These new versions were uploaded on 6 April 2010.

Hi guys! I just noticed this thread. If anyone still runs into issues after this, post what's happening and I'll see if it's something we can help with. Even though we don't run DirectSong, we can still pass on questions about possible problems.
Keep the questions/reports on target, though. It's tough to pass on information if we're unclear about what's being asked.

Thanks for the help Emily. I am sure ANet put pressure on DirectSong to fix the issues. Any chance we will get Sorrow's Furnace back? It is the only one of the paks that is no longer available. No MP3 no DRM free WMA.

No problem, KZaske! I'm not sure about the Sorrow's question. I'll ask around tomorrow and see if I can find out.

Thanks for getting on the case Emily, I really appreciate it so thanks. I see the Factions and Nightfall packs are now available again and DRM free which is great.
I also have the Sorrows Furnace MiniPak and the Guild Wars Battle Pack which I paid for. I noticed these are no longer available and as I mentioned in my previous post the DRM license server is no longer online so I can't get them working again.
If these two packs could be added in a similar fashion to the Factions and Nightfall CE packs that would be fantastic! If not then I'd be just as happy for the DRM server to be back up. Either way it’s such a shame for these excellent music additions to be forgotten.
As the game is nearly 5 years old why not make them available to everyone anyway
Thanks again

You're very welcome again, guys. I've sent an email off to a few folks that may be able to shed some light on what's going on (and should be able to point me in the right direction for investigation), so hopefully we can give you an answer about this soon.
Thanks for being patient and letting us know about the issue, and sorry about the trouble you've run into!

The Build Wars Battle Pack is available if you are refering to "Guild Wars Battle Pak One." I downloaded it and installed it yesterday, it is working fine. As for the Sorrow's Furnace Mini-Pack, it was a free sample offered shortly after Sorrow's furnace went live. No one actually paid for it, but it has a song in it I MUST have back. It was the one song that convinced me I wanted DirectSong.
@Emily: Would you be so kind as to thank Jeremy Soule and company for the huge update they did to the GuildWars.ds file. It is now possible to know where each song is played and when, without any third party applications. It is so nice to have the music again.

Alright this is amazing, I re-downloaded the DRM free Guild Wars music (the zip's with the MP3's), and the archive also includes DRM free WMA files. This is a great update by DirectSong being that I can finally listen to what I paid for in game without having to worry about licensing. The only I'm missing is the Sorrow's Furnace music, but everything else is there. Big thank you to DirectSong and whoever else was behind this!

Cool, OK I logged into my DirectSong account and it did indeed let me download Battle Pack One once again (DRM FREE!) so this is great news. Funny how I can't download Sorrows Furnace Minipack even though it's on my purchase list just no download option.
I hope they fix this soon so my Guild Wars installation will once more be complete.
