Default Windows Media Center?

Hey, everyone,

OK, so my issue is more of a nuisance than a problem. Guild Wars is running fine for me on Windows 7 however; every time I launch the game, Windows Media Center launches in the background.

It doesn't seem to interfere with the gameplay but I just hate to take up unnecessary resources. I've never even used Windows Media Center so I have no idea how to modify its settings to stop this from happening. Anyone else have this issue?

Check your guild wars shortcut for -mce. (Right click it and hit properties).Mine did that and removing -mce fixes it.

Yup, I had the same problems for some time, then looked somewhere on the internet to find the same solution. It worked.

If you are starting the game from the icon in the "Games" folder, you may have a hard time finding the "-mce". Instead, find the Guild Wars folder in either "C:\Program Files" or C:\Program Files (x86). In there, right-click on gw.exe and select Properties >> Send To >> Desktop (create shortcut).
That will create a regular desktop shortcut. Check the "Target" line in this shortcut for "-mce" - delete the -mce if it's there.

You may also be able to do this by starting Windows Media Center and removing Guild Wars fro a list of apps - but I'm not sure on this (and too lazy to check it out).
