Account hacked? (code=045)
Hi guys,
First of all, I haven't entered my GW for months/years now but yesterday I decided to instal the game on my new comp. Once I tried loggin-in this error popped up I had to contact support staff to figure out the whole hacking thing. I did, and I'm now eagerly waiting for them to fix it.
Is this common? And what are my chances I'm gonna get my account up and running again?
Thx.

Being hacked is more common then you would hope, both due to flawed security on ANETs side as user error.
If you were hacked and as a result of that used the wrong account info (password), you would get error 227. However, the error code you have received (045) is one you receive if support has locked your account, there can be a few reasons as to why that happened.
The text that comes with the error gives a more detailed explanation of the reason, depending on that you may or may not get your account back easilly.
If it was locked due to it being suspected of being hacked, it is more likely to get it back then if it was due to a rule violation.
If it was because of it being hacked, you will just need to prove you are the owner of the account with the game keys you used to make/expand the account and/or some additional information.
Is it possible you first received error 227, sent a message to support, they locked the account and then you checked the error code (which was then 045) to post it here?
Either way, I wish you luck with recovering the account. Be aware that if it was hacked, you may have lost alot of items you had in the past, support will not restore those.

Error=045
"Your account has been suspended from Guild Wars for offensive behavior, which is a breach of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct. You will be able to join the game in approximately X hours."
OR:
"We have detected that your account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual. For your security, further access to the account has been blocked until this matter can be resolved. To restore access to this account, please contact Support and one of our representatives will assist you."
OR:
"Your account has been banned from Guild Wars for a breach of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct. This ban is permanent."
OR:
"Your Guild Wars has been blocked for an account issue. Please contact Support for more information"
OR:
"Your Guild Wars account has been terminated for payment fraud. This action is permanent."
OR:
"Your Guild Wars account has been terminated for using a bot or other third-party program, which is a breach of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct. This action is permanent. "
This code indicates an account mark or a ban. This means you have most likely breached the User Agreement or Rules of Conduct.
Or when the account has been suggested to have been hacked.

Thanks for the reply. I got the 045 straight away with follow text:
"We have detected that your account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual. For your security, further access to the account has been blocked until this matter can be resolved. To restore access to this account, please contact Support and one of our representatives will assist you."
I hope I'm not gonna lose my account, after all there's nothing I've done wrong.

Well, theres only one way to correct that. It looks like a hacker accessed your account and you will have to write to support to verify you are the owner to open the account for play again. Go to http://www.guildwars.com/support/ and write a ticket and supply them with as much information as you can that proves you are the owner of the account. Usually these bans are automatically handed out if annomalies appear in the system such as trades with other accoutns that are known to have been hacked.

Your account is still there, however, if you were hacked there is a very good chance that only your characters remain (they dont seem to delete those any more)....once your prove your ownership of the account, they should allow you access to it again--but be prepared to see naked characters and an empty storage chest!
good luck!

I went through a similar situation a couple months ago when I came back. They had restored my account within 24 hours.

Doesn't really matter if my chars got deleted or not, I was planning to start fresh anyway.
