PC crash at "A gate too fare"
Hello everyone,
i'm having the same problem since weeks...When charging the mission "A Gate too far" from GWEN the game crashes at ask me to send a report to Anet. Thing i've done many times. I also have the same problem in Fronis's Irontoe Dungeon.
I've already reinstalled GW but it's the same damn crash as always.
Note i'm playing on a Mac emulating with Wine. Don't know if the problem is this, but i'm quite upset cos i cannot complete GWEN if i don't do that mission.
Any ideas??

I assume not playing on a mac won't be an option for you, so you could try change the settings and see if it will help. Mainly reduce graphics quality and possibly turn off sound. This is a longshot as it could be because of some incompability in wine which you with some luck could bypass with different settings.

A good question for the wine and Mac forums. Most of us have little practical experience with either.

See the WINE page for possible fix or work arounds. Same page also contains links to other sites that may also provide help getting GW running on your hardware.

I'm not sure how the emulator runs, but for some reason running Guild Wars as administrator on windows usually solves the crashing problem unless it's your graphics. If you can run Guild Wars as an administrator using Wine, try that. It might solve your issue.

Wine isn't very friendly in some cases. My recommendation would be to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp to run native off the hardware.
Which type of Mac would you have? For best performance you would need to have a dedicated video card as Guild Wars won't run off an integrated video card well or at all depending on the card.

actually i didn't express me very well: the game crash, not the system.
Wine and X11 works perfectly for the rest of the game and this MAC has a good graphic and enough RAM to drive the game. It's just a crash at this mission and at Kilroy Extravaganza...
I'll try to lower graphic outputs at see if it works...

If you seriously want to play GW1 or GW2 you're best option is to use Bootcamp and install Windows. Even if you fix that glitch, you would get better fps running under Windows.
What graphics system is in your Mac? There are some areas in GW that are known to cause problems with some Intel Integrated Graphics (in Windows). If that's the case, that is, if it's a Wine related issue, I can't help you.
