Lag Wars
I've had GW1 for about 18 months and never experienced any problems; ever since GW2 went up I've noticed a lot more problems.
Lag is the major problem. This past week, pretty much daily, I log in and either the lag is already apparent at the character select screen, or I get into the game and a minute later everything slows way down and starts skipping around.
At the moment my fps is around 65-70, but who knows, two minutes from now it could be down to 6-7, which to me renders the game unplayable. If I wait long enough, I may get lucky and it goes back up, but most of the time I just get annoyed and quit.
I see a lot of people tend to say "upgrade your system" but I've never had problems like this until recently. I'm not up on the technical aspects of how they run the GW servers, but as a layperson the only thing I can come up with is that the launch of GW2 is screwing around with GW1. Yes, I defrag and keep my system as clean as possible, update when required, etc.
And there we have it - as I sit here typing I just checked - after five minutes, my fps just jumped down to 5. Sigh. I just don't get it.

edit: and it's like clockwork. Just logged in again, everything was fine for a minute, and then boom, there goes the fps again. I mean, WTF?

Yup, you're absolutely right. That's what the video is trying to display. All the weapons are affected by latency, but for some reason they tried to hide this fact with the lancer (painting the bullets landing clientside instantly regardless of where the server actually registers them).

Hmm, were you perhaps responding to something else?
Anyway, last night I was on for about 90 minutes, no problems. This morning, after 30 seconds, down to 5 again, and now back up to 30. What is up with this yo-yo effect?

To be honest, that sounds more like a problem with your internet than with the game. Check to make sure your router is running fine with other applications during the times of lag. If not, reboot your router.

Run the "Test My Computer" option from the login screen. Just to see if there is any kind of breakdown between you and the game servers. If game is unplayable, you may have to submit a ticket to support. They will walk you through finding where there could be a problem.

Ok, thanks. I forgot about the "test my computer" thing. I'll give it a shot. And I am suspicious about my internet too, lol.
