Hardware Failure
Hi, I have played guild wars 1 since I was about 7 and I didn't even know this issue existed until today (it hasn't ran on this rig before) ... because yes I still play guild wars 1 now in 2015.. I recently decided to record it for my youtube channel before moving on to guild wars 2, after running the game for the first time on my new rig specs are here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/GmPDgs
i have a zalman z11 plus (it isnt an option).
after running the game for the first time and it installing it would crash with a message saying Guild Wars has found a possible hardware malfunction
I'm 100% sure there isn't an issue with any components but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is there no error code or somesuch? Have you tried the easy thing like resetting your ram? Also the problem is running Guidlwars and not gw2 right?

Thanks for the response. Yes, it is GW1 not GW2 also Razer Cortex "boosts" when I open it anyway, if you mean what I think you mean anyway.
If not any info on how to reset my ram would be awesome.

You try starting the game without using that razor cortex? Reseating the ram is very simple.
Make sure your pc is off, and unplugged, take the side panel off the pc look for your two sticks of ram:
and gently pull them out by pressing down/sideways. on the little tabs on the end. Clean out any dust plug then back in by pushing them back in the slots gent;y but firmly. Make sure there in the same slots you took them out of and take note they have a proper side they fit in. (see the little notch under the A in the pic above, note it is not in the middle of the stick.
I know the game error say it is a hardware issue but it sounding more like a software issue so try the game without that razor software.
Try starting the game without using the razer cortex software. You shouldn't have to "boost" anything to play this game.

Razer Cortex boosts automatically, After turning the auto boost off there was still no effect and after resetting my memory there is still no difference and the error still occurs.

I don't have razor cortex but from what little i have looked at about it is is gaming software thing very much like the nvidia experience software I have on my pc that lets you launch your games from THEIR software and also configures games for "optimal" setting if you let it.
The only way to "boost" your game is if the software is doing some kind of changes to increase your overclock to your video card or something of that nature like you can do with the MSI gaming app etc.
Disable the cortex stuff so that when you do start GW it doesn't do any kind of changes to "boost" your game.
Anyways the best thing to do especially in older games like this is google for similar problems or send a ticket for help and include a dxdiag.
Also take a look here https://support.guildwars.com/entrie...rs-Error-Codes
You can also take a look and see if there's a crash.dmp or arenanet.log file in your guild wars folder which might help pinpoint the problem beyond this there not much I can help you with.
I just started playing the game again after many years so I am not really familiar with problems the game may have that pop up now and then.
EDIT:
Try taking a look at this thread here http://forums.evga.com/GW2-Hardware-...-m1568554.aspx in this thread the one person had the same problem in gw2 AND previously in GW and he manage to get around it via changing the command line used to start the game.
Go to the GW icon on your desktop right click it and click on properties. You should see something like this in the shortcut tab in the target box
"C:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
this is the command line which is basically what a icon or shortcut uses to start programs they are used for. Mine originally looked like this
"C:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -mce
I took away the -mce as this was causing windows media player to start up, after closing the game client, and give an error as I don't use that program.
Here's alink to command line argument for gw http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Comma...ents#-password

Razer Cortex's boost mode just closes unused background processes.
the guild wars player support thing is always empty I think its some sortve bug.
also my guild wars shortcut has no additional text after gw.exe", I am going to run it with -diag as well and -image after to see what the diag says and see if it updates at all. (edit) it didn't so much update but reinstalled everything but still the error occurs -diag didn't detect any issues.

Hmm I think if you read the thread he got around the problem mostly using
C:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -oldauth
The client is saying there's a problem with your hardware so closes gw down, similar to a false positive you sometimes see with anti virus software so maybe if you force the game to use the old method to verify things it will get around the problem?
Have you tried -oldauth ?
The person in that thread I previously link says:

Good grief, this has become rediculous. I had this issue with Guild Wars, having to bypass this stupid non-existent error with command line arguments. Using -dsound -dx8 & -oldauth.

I am not sure if he means he used all those at once or not but it's worth a shot.
I would try them each individually and if that doesn't work I would try them all together and see if that works.
C:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -dsound -dx8 -oldauth
