Comp Freezes after 2 minutes in GW
Hey everyone, I thought i'd post this on the forums since its been bugging me for a few weeks now. So lately about 60-70% of the time, my comp freezes up after a couple of minutes in GW. I've tried installing new video card drivers and going back to old ones but I still get the same result.
Now I guess what I'm fearing is that it's my power supply. I've been told that I should get a new one because well I have to keep my computer on 24/7. When I turn it off and leave it off, when i turn it back on, what I think is the power supply makes a grinding noise and it'll cause my comp to think that i'm overclocking it (which i'm not) and it won't fully boot.
So do you think this is the reason why my computer is freezing up in GW? Or could it be something else?

It definately could be the power supply... even if it isn't, if components inside it are grinding you should probably replace it ASAP before something is damaged. It also could just be a matter of dust collecting inside your computer, so if you swap out power supplies make sure to clean your fans and heatsinks while your case is open. I'd also be a good idea to make sure that all of your fans are still working.
What video drivers/video card are you using?

I'm using a Leadtek 6600GT and i'm went back to 71.89 drivers after trying the newest and a few others.
All my fans seem to be working, i know its not a dust issue because even after blowing out the all the fans, it will still do it on startup. Like I said though, it does the grinding noise when i startup only after the computer has been turned off for a bit. If i just do a restart, it doesn't grind a bit.

The power supply could be it how many v's is it? The video card I doubt is the problem. Far as the grinding sound my guess is the heads in your hard drive are touching the plates which isn't very good. Even though the game doesn't really use the hard drive if the heads are touching the plates it can cause your computer to restart or freeze. Your best bet would be to call a tech. or the manufacter. If they are touching you should ghost your harddrive or have a tech take the info from the hard drive (if they have the tool) and transfer it to a new one.

Also what I do is take a Shop-Vac to the back end of the PSU and suck it clean as possible. However, it "sounds" like the bearings are failing on it.

It could be your ram problem, see if you have a program called "ram idle pro" installed, and if you do , delete it.
