GW Major Crashing/Freezing Problem
Hello everyone, i have a MAJOR issue with GW. This seems to happen all the time.My GW sometimes freezes up completely, for 5 secs, then after 5 secs, my interface dissapears completely(like when you take screenshots while pressing shift+prnt screen)for 5 secs and then goes back to normal. This problem is pissing me the **** off, im sick and tired of this problem always happeneing, sometimes my PC even restarts bc of this problem, and sometimes it doesnt. When it doesnt restart and just freezes, i die most of the time, bc it freezes in the most important time. Overall, this problem is Fing annoying. Please, someone help me. Heres my Specs:
AMD Athlon 3200+
EVGA e-Geforce 6800XT
2 Gigs of Ram
170 gig SATA HDD
939 socket MOBO
2ms 19" LCD(doubt this has anything to do with it)
Im pretty sure its not my hardware. If anyone can help me, please do ASAP. Probablt by the next half hour ill get around 2-7 more crashes)

Have you recently updated your graphic card drivers?
Also, what DirectX version are you running?
Try running GW with the -dx8 command switch.
You may also wish to check your computer for malware.

Whats the -dx8 switch ?
Also, i right-clicked on my computer, and under the "General" tab, near my hardware stats, it told me "Physical Address Extension" I dont think ive seen that physical address extnesion there before.

Could be a hard drive issue where the drive is failing.

IF its a HD issue it would produce BSODs in Windows and not just simply reboot. Those BSOD messages would be helpful if they happened at all.

XP has it reboot on critical error instead of BSOD by default.
Right Click My Computer
Click on the Advanced Tab
Under Startup and Recovery Section, Click on Settings
Uncheck automatic restart under the system failure section
Instead of rebooting, it should give the BSOD.
the -dx8 is a switch you can alter the shortcut changing how the game runs

Physical Address Extension is a Windows XP SP2 security feature that cpu (hardware) and memory (via the OS) can use. It's a security feature that kills virus like activity at the hardware level. Both Intel and AMD cpu's support this feature now.

Thanks EternalTempest. Right before my PC reboots, i get a blue screen with lots of writing in white letters on it, too much for me to read it. The Pc reboots about 2 secs after that writing comes up =\. @ Tarun, it cant be my HDD, i just got it a week ago and its completely new.

All you really need to read/remember is the small message that is in all caps.
Example:
IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
or
KERNEL_PAGED_IN_NONPAGE_AREA (something like that)

I dont think I'll be able to remember since that I unchecked the System Failure- Automatic Restart, and now my PC wont reboot, and i wont be able to see that blue screen/white letters.

Ok, the problem happened again, and the computer restarted, (even though i unclick the "restart on critical error" tab in "my compiter". Fortunetly the Blue screen with all the white writting appeared, and for some reason didnt close and restart, the blue screen just froze, so i copied everything that it said. Heres what the blue screen witht he writting said after the crash:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your compiter.
The problem seems to be caused byt he following file: nv4_disp
If this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.
Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x000000EA (0x88E49970,0x88F49008,0x8ACD7CB4,0x00000001)
nv4_disp
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
I really need some help, if anyone can use this info to aid me in this problem, id really apreciate it. I cant even do a run/mission/farm/pvp withought this problem occuring.

I have somewhat the same problem, My game will just freeze though. I had contacted GW support about the issuse and they blamed my 64bit OS so if you're running Pro64 thats what they'll blame

Meh, i think its my drivers, i have the 84.21 driver at the moment, and its the latest, but the blue screen says something about my driver not functioning propertly. Im clueless. I tryed changing my drivers to a quadro driver, like the guy in the other thread in this forum, and so far no freezes, maybe the quadro driver fixed my prob. Ill keep playing, waiting for the freeze to happen again, or maybe the quadro fixed it for good, whoknows.

ForceWare 77.77 is working for my 6800GT perfectly, you could try downgrading to it.
