Comp Crashes when i start Guild Wars
After i install Guild Wars i get the Blue screen and then when i restart my computer and try running it it crashes again
Specs:
Windows XP Media Center
Intel Pentium D Processor
CPU 2.80 Ghz
1 GB of Ram
Intel G965 Express Chipset Family (256 MB)
I know my computer meets the specs, but i dont know why this would occur, its a new computer and it hasn't run on the computer at all, i dont know if it would be caused by Media Center Edition or if my computer just doesnt think Guild Wars is an acceptable application so it crashes the computer, i really dont know, i tried installing it 3 or 4 times, all crashing right after i install it, it connects to Arena.net and then crashes. When i restart the computer and try running Guild Wars again(because the installation finished) it will connect to Arena.net then it will freeze and the blue screen will show up, please help i dont feel like wasting 40 dollars on a game that wont work

This is a really common problem for people with Intel's integrated graphics processors. No offense, but they're terrible. How long has it been since you've updated your video drivers?

I agree intel chipsets and GW don't work well together. The only intel chipset that hasn't caused me any problems is the GMA900. If updating your drivers doesn't fix this, getting a new video card would be the best solution. You don't need anything fancy for GW so a GeForce 6600GT will do nicely and you'll be able to have pretty much all the effects enabled.

No matter what your budget you should never go for an onboard graphics solution! Always go for a dedicated graphics card!
In the future it should be played through the bellies of pregnant females to the foetus in the womb! Social engineering at it's best!

I agree with the rest on teh onboard graphics. One other thing though, you do not mention if this is a laptop or a desktop. If it is a laptop forget about a new graphics card as they are not upgradeable. If it is a desktop you may be in luck if you have an empty pci or pci express slot. You were real sketchy on your system specs but a bit more info will help greatly.

ok, i tried updating the chipset and it does the same thing, i wrote down the code this time though
STOP: 0x0000008E (0x80000004, 0x806EAAC9, 0x947F8354, 0x00000000)
Is this the chipset? Because if it is then i might just have to go out and buy a video card, i mean, i cant see why this would be a problem because it works other games fine, such as Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Regardless, i am going to upgrade the BIOS and install any windows updates, but I just wanna play guild wars....

To be honest, those hex codes don't tell us a whole lot. There should be the name of a .DLL file somewhere in there. That would be a lot more useful.
Did you update the chipset drivers or the video drivers, or are they together? That's important. You want to update your video driver.
It's not surprising that it works fine with Morrowind. That's a much older game than GW (Morrowind is 5 years old). Newer games are interacting with your video driver differently, and an old driver might not have updates built into the newer drivers to run newer games (or eliminate problems with newer games). I didn't word that very well...does it make sense?
