I get this problem all the time even today.
There are a few models of Dell OptiPlex, that when you do a full update from Microsoft, it will put this DLL on your system. And the most frustrating part, is that there are no NVidia devices installed in the system at all! Intel chipsets and video.
One thing I have learned, is to never allow MicroSoft to update ATI or NVidia video cards. I always turn updates for these items off. For some reason updating Intel and SiS video is no problem, but NVidia and ATI always hoses the system.
And you really can't blame MS either, since the driver and list of systems to update it comes from NVidia.
