Windows Vista Low FPS when running GW
So my brother went out to buy a laptop. Came with Vista, and he installed Guild Wars and when he went to run it is really laggy and FPS is between 2-6 Oo.

Their is the specs on it and I have no idea what would cause it, he has only had the laptop for 2 days.
An help would be apperciated.
Thanks, Noel

I really dont see why it would only get 2-6fps unless your running alot of other stuff that don't need to be. The only thing i could see causing it would be the video card, what cards it got in it?

Thats odd, unless its a problem Vista has with GW's. I would suggest turning down your screen resolution to 800x600, and maybe some of the graphic/sound settings if your still getting a low performance.

Here's a good Windows Vista & Gaming reference link:
http://www.vistaultimate.com/gaming.htm
I think the key thing to ensure is that you have the most up to date drivers for your video card as well as system drivers.
One of the problems with being on the bleeding edge of technology, is that you are often the one doing the bleeding until the support structure catches up to you...and this may take a while.
From what I have read about Vista there seems to be some power user settings available for your graphics card, perhaps a solution lies there.

There is an issue with GW and Vista since the April 5th update. I have played GW on Vista since December without any bother until the audio update and now I get a massive reduction in frame rate.
I don't know what arena net have done to the game but most people with vista have this problem now. Try to turn off anti-aliasing this should help matters. I have started a thread on this when the problem started so take a look, no real fixes except for AA. Its a shame since I used to play on max setting and now I can't even take screens or save templates.
