Now when I start gw.exe, the load appears, but it freezes there. No messages, it just says "not responding".
It can't be corrupted files, i just normally logged out and closed the game.
Restart your pc. login as normal. run gw.exe
If it doesn't run, check you are connected to the internet and you have available bandwidth.
If it still doesn't work, try using the start->run prompt, browse to the guildwars directory and type gw.exe -update.
After the update, run GW as normal.
If it's still crashing, try making sure your HD space is above 15%
Defragment your hdd
If it still won't run try removing it using add/remove programs from the control panel and delete the gw directory afterwards
Then reinstall gw fresh.
I assume that the random disconnecting (your character stops and can
't move) is normal these days?
Yeah, it is common during holidays and ingame events. I have found that a lot of disconnects can be caused by too many background tasks or backgrounds tasks that connect to the internet or use a lot of processor time. You may want to double check your background tasks to make sure you only have those running that you want to run.
