I'm not too computer savvy, but a few weeks ago my Dell lost it's mobo and power supply. After much fussing and ado w/Dell...(i still can't really talk about it ) I decided to purchase a new pc (not a Dell!)....I downloaded the GW Client and all the updates.
A friend was able to download all my files from my old hardrive onto a disc, so
I can retrieve my .dat file from it. Or should I bother? Will it make a big difference? Just wondering...
If you don't care about having to wait over night to download the .dat with -image than dont bother, i would take you template folder though from the CD.
I periodically re-image anyway, just to ensure I have a clean install. And when I'm setting up a new system (or reload a new system) I download a current -image. But it is also good advice to ensure that you transfer your template and screenshot folders if you want to keep them. And this advice assumes you have a decent ISP download transfer rate. D/L the image often on a slow connection might not be what I would call a good time.
Yes, you can save your self a whole lot of time by copying gw.dat to your new computer. Otherwise you'll have to re-download everything - either as you go or by using -image.
And, of course, copy the screenshots and templates too.
