alt+tab problem!
Who suffers from this alt+tab slowness, taking 5-15sec to get into GW.
Alt+tab out = instant
Alt+tab in = takes 5-15 seconds.
Yeah, it helps with windows mode but, why does this happend?
Hardware is not a problem, if curious?

Yeah I have that problem a lot but I noticed it only occurs when you are loading a map or have just started up Guild Wars.

I have an I7 and a 285,
After I installed the new drivers it seems to give me longer tabbing in times, I dunno if you have installed the new drivers? (190.38)

Guild Wars when minimized does not draw frames(that's why it runs at a lower priority when minimized). However the moment you un-minimize it it has to draw every single frame that it missed(design flaw), so minimizing it for more than a couple hours is NOT recommended as it may take over 30 minutes for Guild Wars to catch up with itself in which time you will see past events rushing along on screen as it tries to draw all those frames again or see absolutely nothing and think it froze up(your system resources will be peaked).
You don't even have to maximize it, just hit the windowed mode button and turn off your screen or use the power management feature of it or use a blank screensaver and everything will be fine.
Just cause GuildWars has a minimize feature doesn't mean it should ever be used! Do not use minimize for more than 2 hours(especially on low requirement systems).
from lil puppy on presear forums.
when you alt+tab back it needs to catch up on everything it missed and causes load times

Hmm... did a test, used gw, wow and age of conan, and only age of conan went fine, was almost instant alt+tab in and out, so.... I guess people behind gw and wow are slacking with updating they're systems?
Also, heard older nvidia drivers does'nt have this huge alt+tab in as new nvidia ones.

Bit off topic but does anyone have problems with other programs besides GW running extremely slow when GW is in windowed mode, my system can handle GW perfectly fine and it's not just on one system.

Happens to a lot of people I know on a variety of systems. This is probably a GW issue, because other games do not suffer the same fate.

Before the most recent Nvidia driver update I never had any problems with slow re-rendering of GW. Even with my "old" 8800gts OC I always had a 1 sec delay between minimization. I have a feeling that this is due to the new drivers.

If you alt-tab out of GW simply to use the internet try running the game through Steam or Xfire. That way you can get web browsing without ever having to minimize. I personally run through steam, and I must say, it's very helpful. Completely up to personal choice though. Just a suggestion

The last version which allows Guild Wars to alt-tab back in almost instantly is 182.50.

it's more likely that nvidia dropped some of the driver level optimizations for GW with their recent drivers. GW's game engine is not without some bugs (the texture flush bug is a pretty obvious one), and removing those optimizations could hurt its performance.

nope. however, if i alt tab for a long time, the game basically desyncs with the server and people start jumping everywhere.
