I got a 64 MB graphic card for like $60. It was a GeForce 4 or something i dont rememeber. I got a 128 MB graphic card (Really good) for $99.99 at CompUSA. Its a called like Verto with orange around it with this chick melting her pruple skin and shes a machine underneith. its liek a GeForce 4 FX (or MX) not sure 5500. Its AWESOME. it is a great deal. its $122.99 at Best Buy (they suck i found since i looked a lil walk to CompUSA and found it cheaper) so but it at CompUSA!
EDIT: Here is the graphic card I jsut bought. If you want youc could search the site even more. I will look for more too. Verto GeForce FX 5500 Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR Here is anotehr one, cheaper , but its only a 64 MB HOWEVER that is what is recomended for GuildWars. Verto GeForce FX 5200 Video Card, 8x AGP, 64MB DDR Ok, this is the card I had before my new 128 one. I got it like from the guy who made mt computer. This card isn't too expensive for a Graphic card at all and works graet. Here is what I think my old one was. Hope I was helpful. Last edited by Nova; Mar 02, 2005 at 05:57 AM // 05:57.. |

While on the topic I thought I may as well pop in the good ol' guildwars faq just in case anybody needs to check there settings. I wasn't affected and my card is on the list but I made the modification anyways to prevent and possible future problems I might have had, also the more that know the better the gameplay...

Thats the card I have and it works great. If you have a PCI slot in you computer, this is a good buy.

If it's too costly take GeForce 6600. GeForce 6200 isn't practically usable for gaming so it's a big no-no. Geforce 4xxx and 5xxx are significantly slower (especially in new games with a lot of shaders etc.) than GeForce 6600 GT or GeForce 6800. ATi doesn't have something that is as good as GeForce 6600 GT for a same price AFAIK. I played Guild Wars on my old GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 Mb and it was fine (P4-2400, 1 Gb RAM). But now i upgraded video to GeForce 6800 - probably too fast video card for my processor, but IMHO during an upgrade it's more efficient to make a system a little unbalanced in one aspect than to upgrade all parts. I don't recommend to play games on GeForce 4 MX series (or older video cards) because it's significantly slower than even GeForce 4 Ti. |

Besides, it's outdated. It supports only DirectX 8.1 (so only Shader 1.4 at best, and GeForce 6xxx video cards support Shader 3.0) Not to mention perfomance, it will be hard to find charts that compare this card with new video cards (it's too old), but it may easily be 7-10 times slower than GeForce 6600 GT in some new games (5 times slower for sure). Most likely it will be somewhere near a minimum requirments for Guild Wars, but it's a waste of money anyway - if you buy it, then you still need to uprgrade it ASAP If a computer have an AGP slot, then it's a lot better to buy AGP video card instead of PCI one. Yea, well I guess that is all i'm going to have to do is try, and if it does not work i'll have to get me another video card. I apriciate all the help all you have been, and thanks to everyone who supplyed me some information. I Just Found out that the Card I have, was made back in January 9, 1997! That seriously sucks knowing how many new and better cards they have came out with. The card I have was made to perfect the graphics of 3D and 2D games, but that does not matter now that they have newer games with more Hightec. graphics? I have not played Everquest on my Computer. I allways went over to my friends house to play. Justin Mclain, or on Everquest his character was Adriel Shadowbane, Darkelf Necro. I have not played any games on my PC. I guess I will go check out what Cards I can find. Last edited by Ice Heart; Mar 02, 2005 at 05:51 PM // 17:51.. |

WARNING ABOUT 5200
every top gaming magazine and web review says to stay away from that like the plague for very bad performance they also dont like the 5500 STUMPY if and when you get that 6600GT you will find out it makes a world of difference i had to wait until the price went down and my maker of choice (leadtek) put one out but the difference on 3dmark 2005 goes from a slide show at 407 points with the 5600 ultra (got under warranty replacement for a 4200ti that fried the ram) to 2746 and looks like something nice almost 6800 performance at less than half the price |

I Beleive I have found the answer to my Video Card problem. I Was searching around for the ATI Radeon 9000 Video Card, the Recommended Video Card for Guild Wars, and I looked at Wal-Mart, and they have them for $72.72. What are your opinions on this? You have all helped me through my troublesome questions, so could you all let me know if you all think this is a good deal or not.

what version of 9000?
they go from pro to crippled (le) google it with either review or roundup or shootout to see how it actually does EDIT quick check says you can do better for he price or get equal for less it is 3 years old now and was aimed at the GF4MX market which is very low end for market competition as the MX does not have he shader setup used today for effects Last edited by Loviatar; Mar 02, 2005 at 07:34 PM // 19:34.. |

Why would a 9200 not be better than a 6600? Does it even have anything to do with the numbers? I'm starting to get lost.

It's only temporary until I buy a new copmuter anyways ( within the next year or so) then i'll buy somthing much better. Ionly recommend this card if your only option for video card slot is PCI, if you have PCI-Express or AGP slots , there are much, muich better cards out there. |
