Chat Filter? - Guild Wars Forums

When messing with the GW client today, I noticed this for the first time:

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I never really did much with the out-of-game options, so I can't remember if that was already there or not. Does this mean they've finally added a channel filter that'll be there in the next BWE, or is this just some kind of profanity filter?

The Profanity Filter has always been there, to my knowledge. Or has been for quite some time.

Yeah, it always defaults to normal... at least it has for me... so I have to keep switching it to None, cause I can't stand to see ***'s appear, I'd rather see vulgar language than a filter.

I just wish it would remember my settings.

instead of the *** it might be fun to have standard comic type invective instead (fireworks comets explosions etc)

lol that would be very distracting, being in pvp one of the enemys dies he says ---- and than you hear fire works see explosions, and than BAM you die you say ---- and the prosses repeats. but i like the ---- i dont think it should be like #$$&!! or something like that

it's a profanity filter i always keep off.

but do they have anyfilters so you can only see what people on your friends list are saying or the person your whispering is saying, because its annoying when your trying to sell something and your in a crowded place and some one will saysomething to you but shoot up so fast u cant read it...

No, that's what everyone keeps begging the devs for. And, as I hadn't seen the profanity filter option before, I was hoping they'd finally decided to add a real channel filter when I noticed it. Guess not.

god im an idiot, i read that wrong 3 times. but they should make that, maybe it will be in there in the next BWE? since its chat and pvp is people, maybe....we can hope at least

Chat filters are one of the things that I think the game really needs. a number of people have mentioned this in the suggestions threads after the WPE and each BPE. I asked Gaile and she told me they have a DEV devoted to improving the chat. I just hope it is a good DEV and we can see the results of those changes in the near future.

I find it one of the few areas that are left that the game could really use an improvement in.

*crosses fingers* for the next BPE.

Maybe the reason we haven't seen it yet is that they're restructuring the entire chat system and want to release it in finished form, rather than adding a tab here, a channel there, etc. That would certainly be nice, anyway.

well i dont think they should show the finished one to late, cause we have to test it first

lol, isnt that the point of the BWEs? lol well what if they put it on the bwe befor the release and it is a complete failur? well i think they should put out what they have when they have it
