Experiencing problems with Matrox G550
I meant to post this earlier during the event but had another vid card that works fine. My question is, has anyone experience problems with the Matrox G550?
(1) While in the game the cursor "trails" little boxes then clears up (2) Textures for the body and legs do not show. All drivers are updated, running DirectX 9c, BIOS version is latest v1.4-14 System is a P4 2Ghz 512 Ram. System is clean install of WinXP Pro Service Pack 2 Card name: Matrox Millennium G550 - English Manufacturer: Matrox Graphics Inc. Chip type: Matrox G550 DAC type: Integrated, 360 MHz Display Memory: 32.0 MB Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (85Hz) Last edited by Acronym; Feb 27, 2005 at 01:08 PM // 13:08.. |

This graphics card is far below the minium requirement for Guild Wars

a review shows that it much lower performance than a gf4MX or ati raedon LE of the same vintage
the review said the matrox is a supurbe 2D card with low performance 3d added on what you see is what you will continue to see if you wish to improve you will need to swap in a better card (many budget cards will work fine) |

Yeah that card is pretty out of date. If you can get your hands on $100 you can get at least a 128meg Nvidia or Radeon standard which will last a little while.
Give you an idea I have 4 computers and this is what they have: PC- Nividia GeForce Ultra5600 128megs PC- Nividia GeForce3 64megs Lap-Ati Radeon 64megs PC - IBM 64megs The first 2 actually play Guildwars and my snapshots are post at the actual pixels(Ultra 5600) just cut to size. |
