Channeling Range
I've searched high and low to find the answer to my burning question: what is the range on channeling? The description says you can steal energy from "nearby" enemies, but so far I haven't heard a definitive range for "nearby." A few of the threads I've seen have listed some of the following as options:
2-3 meters 25 feet same range as Aftershock (which doesn't help me as I don't know that range either) about the same range as the healing fountain in the mission after Lion's Arch (d'Alession Seaboard? maybe?) But none of these seem to have come from anyone that really knew, they seemed to be coming as second-hand information. So my question is: has anyone here actually used it? I'm looking for a skill that would work PvE and PvP, and one that will augment my spamming of Orison/Word/Breeze/any other healing spell I can find. I suppose if all else fails, I can always just try it out in-game , but why do that if I can get information that someone already knows, right? Ciao, CT |

I think the "healing fountain" area is about right on, maybe a bit bigger. It didn't really help me on my long range spellcaster, i would need to get much closer than i'd like to, to get effect out of it.

It's pretty close. The exact distance? nottoo sure, but know you'll be basically within range of anyone when trying to get the energy steal out of it.

I haven't tested it, but I think it would be safe to assume that its range is about that of Heal Area, so I would say the distance is about egual to half the height of the tallest characters.

They really do need to re-do the ranges on the skill descriptions. So far I have used about 5 skills that have a "nearby" range on them. That ranges from Inferno (the smallest) to Channeling (the largest)
My experience with Channeling (two bwe's ago) was that it got them within a pretty good range, but not exactly everyone on the radar. |

Either way, if you're a primary healing monk being too far away from enemies shouldn't be your biggest problem in PvP.

I'd say it's probably similar to the radius of heal area- fairly nearby, but not the same radius as wards and such. Standing on the center of the altar in king-of-the-hill tombs matches, I seem to steal energy from pretty much everyone on the altar, but not from people who aren't on the altar. For a healer in PvP, it's generally pretty rare that you're not stealing energy from 1-2 people, as you're pretty much guaranteed to have a couple warriors beating on you.

Thanks Freya. It's more or less what I thought. The radar range radius was too good to be true. Oh well...
