Trading hurts...
So far the game is by far a tremendous blast. Everything is how I wanted it to be. That is.... until I needed to buy some materials and dye... OMG anyhow well I know theres been threads about this, but I'm not sure if the devs really understand how much of a problem this is for people who don't like slow downs.
It is such a pain in the *** to go from districts to district spamming WTS blah blah blah WTB blah blah blah for a whole hour while people either ignore or you get too many messages. Also while I was a complete noob I was spamming WTS (1) Pelts for a bit and someone messaged saying how much? I then replied why don't you give me a price. He then said "25 gold" I then said "30?" Then he said "Sure meet me at outfitter" I sold it and later found out its rare and around 150 gold ARGH. Anyhow thats not my point. The fact is its not fun to trade in my deepest honest opinion. Final fantasy xi regardless of how boring the grinding was it was fun putting things all at once to auction then go do your things come back and find out it all sold or some only sold. WoW had the same thing, but a bit unorganized like FFXI, but still the same thing. I don't know how diablo 2 was with trading, but anyhow I'm just ranting and hoping all of you feel that way about the trading system. Plus with all the trade spams in each district people who asks questions and lost in the game are completely ignored because their messages get buried under neath the spam. hmmm talking about spam.... I wonder what spam tastes like I've never tried it. You know the spam meat ahem hehe |

At first I was focusing on trading but then realized it was a waste of time. I gave stuff away to my buds after a while because I realized going on quests was the best way to earn loot and gold. 30G for a pelt is not really a bad price. I gave one away. The buying and selling of stuff can really suck up time in the game. I'd rather go on quest and earn it. So much easier to me doing it that way. I think once people realize the easiest way to get stuff all that selling stuff for ridculous prices will end. I'm sure guilds help each other out when it comes to stuff like that. Might be a good idea to join one.

I'm still hoping to see something like a "Market Bazaar" implemented. It's something i've proposed to the team in the past, and I still think it's a good idea. It's something that would be its own map hub .. a place to have NPCs for automatic selling, or the ever popular auction houses. Make it the 'go to' place for trading of all sorts, and I think you'll find that as a virtue of necessity, the trade spam in regular towns will die down some (though it's never going to go away completely.)
An area like this, I think, could be integrated into the world in such a sense that it doesn't feel 'tacked on' .. as an example, the area could be introduced through a quest, you have to go there because a thief stole a something or other and plans to sell it on the black market, where you need to get it back. And lo and behold, it takes you to trader's paradise. I think the best thing about an idea like that is that it caters to all levels. People that are looking for uncommon items without the hassle can just go to the NPCs that are used as intermediaries. And for people that like dealing with used car salesmen, they can go their for their trade spam and live dealings. Everyone's a winner... except Rurik. Because he's dead. |

I agree, that there should be a Market, no missions, just trading, selling, and buying. Maybe somwhere around Nolani Academy? so that newer people will be able to get there. I know when I first started, the only question I asked was, "How do I get to Lion's Arch?"
Edit: I don't know about anyone else, but I was being offered up to 900gold for Pelts. Don't know why, guess people are lazy, but it's a unique economy in Guild Wars. I love it. Last edited by Omnipotent Being; Mar 21, 2005 at 09:21 PM // 21:21.. |

Excellent idea. This worked well in an old MMORPG I used to play (Asheron's Call). The devs created a 'market place' that people could instantly teleport too. The biggest benefit is that it relieved the mass amount of trade spam in towns. |

i think that it should kindabe like the invtory and that stuff, click a button and then everything that people are trading, selling will come up on that screen. you just enter wat your selling into the window and wait or do i mission. it also could have dif windows like "warrior runes" "swords" "dyes" so it wouldnt be hard to find stuff. this would make it allot less trouble for the sellers and buyers. because the sellers could just enter what they were selling and leave, and the buyers could just click on the correct screen and find what they want in two seconds. ithought this was a good idea i dont think they need to go as far as a new world

I think a place for trading would be interesting...and it should be some place pretty. Also it should start out on your map.

I can see it now... Guild Wars Presents "G-Bay!"
I vote for a marketplace in a BIG BAD way. Especially if there are specially made spaces for people to just stand and vend, in the usual trade/sell way, as well as the proposed consignment shop. I can't help but think that the traders were just as annoyed by us socializers as we were by them. Dave III |

either bazzarr of sorts, or at least a different channel, instead of just "all" "guild" "team" "whisper" u could have a market channel that way if you dont want to be bothered by the spam u could just tune it out, and i used to play asherons call as well, the best thing that i loved abotu that game was the tradeing system. it was superb, whoever thought it up was genious, there was no relative way for someoen to steal from you(unless uwere an idiot) and u just opened a trade window and could plop your entire inventory, or just one item into the trade window. superb.

WHen I was new the only way I got pwned was someone selling me a 10-19 staff for 750. I quickly realized it sucked, and I sold it for around 215 or so. Ahh well. Its hard for me to find a good weapon, it seems people just spam the basic ingrediants, iron, hides, etc.

I'm all for the trading town idea.....whatever they decide to call it. Some of those people in the towns were spamming as though they would die if they didn't sell their wares.....it was truly awfull at times. At least there were some people who had the decency to not shout what they were selling every 5 seconds.
And Spam is actually fairly good tasting. Not something I would eat on a daily basis......but growing up as a kid, it was something my dad would bring along on camping trips for breakfast along with scrambled eggs. Ahhh the memories I still occassionally buy a can. |

I'd love to see a market-street....just a street where people can rent some carpet'ish spot, sit down there and open some kind of a shop, would look sweet...

Even the people who were screaming every five seconds seemed like model of restraint compared with the ones who would holler:
"WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH WTB CONCRETE SLAB/WTS BOLT OF CLOTH" ...in direct rapid succession, as if being as annoying as possible was a valid sales technique, made worse by the "I don't care" attitude they'd show when someone called them on it. I don't recall, is that what they're teaching in marketing school these days? I'm really glad I didn't have mod powers, because there would have been a major smackdown on all this. It would'a been ugly. Dave III Last edited by Dave III; Mar 22, 2005 at 03:35 AM // 03:35.. |
