Beta Issues
Hi. My friend tried the Guild Wars beta yesterday and had many problems. He told me that he lagged alot, people froze and stopped often. Also, he said the graphics made people look like polygons. I however had no lagging and found the graphics amazing!!! I am wondering if these problems are caused by poor computer, poor internet connectio, or something else...? Also, will he have these same problems on the full version. Respond fast please!!!

Poor computer is the most likely reason.

Well I wouldnt really consider what I was having lag or anything like that, but the game crashed on me twice. I would be in the middle of playing and my character would get stuck in the ground. I tried to move cast a spell or open my inv but nothing would happen. Then after trying to get my character to move the game would crash to the desktop with no message or anything. This also happened to a friend of mine playing. With both have high end systems. My guess is the server was having problems.

Thanks to all who responded so quickly. He says he has a strong internet connection, so it is probably graphics card or computer.

Graphics Card with Integrated RAM would make all the difference in the game...
Last month I played about 10 mins using a very out-dated Graphics Card, and the game was so slow and bouncy that I got out of my chair and went to Best Buy and bought a new card. After that the game runs fine, AWESOME GRAPHICS I might add. |

You can get an ATI 9600 for about $100. It should do just fine. Not the best by any means but fine.

$50 won't get him a card to play this game. Try ebay for a used one. The card i mentioned you can get for $85 online. They go for as much as $500 for the best their is.

OUCHIE!!! $500 makes a SUPER-NERD... e-bay sounds good, and thanks for the tips. Also, if someone was going to spend $500 on a grtaphics card, why not just get an alienware or something, it ends up being cheaper

Power Color 9200 is awesome! But I'd rather have some sort of X800 or X850. Oh well, once I upgrade, Guild Wars will look awesome.
Though its already beutiful. |
