Armor and Crafting...
On the armor that has been modified and specialized for your character, do you have to wait until you have an expert salvage kit to try and salvage? Or do you just keep it in your inventory for ever? I received an extra piece of armor from one of the outfitters and was just wondering?
I just kept the extra piece of armor. |

I've been able to salvage my old Armor using just a normal Salvage Kit. Unless my understanding of the Expert Salvage Kit is wrong, you wouldn't want to use that kit unless the item were rare; Expert Salvage Kits should mainly be used in the hope of pulling a Hilt off of a rare sword or getting a Bow Grip. So save that kit for later, and just use the normal Salvage Kit.
Edit: Missed part of the post somehow. If your armor has been modified already, then you would probably want to use the Expert Salvage Kit to try and take your upgrade off of it. Of course, it's probably best to hold onto upgrade parts until you have armor which you know you'll be using for a while. |

heres how it works, after you make your amror, and want a new piece, you can salvage your old armor with a reg. salvage kit, oran expert one, with a reg ne u get one of the main material u used to make the armor, IE. iron, bone, granite, ect ect, not pelts or anything like that, with an expert, u can can get like 3-4 of the items back, like 4 iron instead of one, but its really not worth it, as iron is esasier to find than the 400 gold u need to purchase a expert salvage kit, like the last post states expert salavage kits should only be used to try and get pelts/hilts/pommels/bow grips/strings/wraps/heads/shafts/grips/scales and minor-major runes and other upgrade componets, everything else just use a rgular salavage kit on.

I've got another question since we're on the topic of armour and crafting it and what not. I can remember when playing this past weekend coming across a guy in pre-seared Ascalan that said he'd trade me 5 Colossal Jawbones for a necromancers tunic. After about 3 hours of searching I found not a single person or thing that had colossal jawbones. Safe to assume the creature that has them wasn't included in this months beta?
Or would they be found another way, like through breaking down items...or...somesuch. I know it sounds out there, at least that option, but I just dunno anymore. >_> |

there are items lingering around from betas past which have been removed from the game altogether or you will find much later in it

just thought i'd add, its better to salvage your old armor as selling it to the vendor as ive seen usually only generates a few gold

Hill Giants dropped a lot of collossal jawbones for me. I have no idea how you would acquire them in pre-searing Ascalon though.

The Devs are still working on the collectors. They're not all working collector. There's also a gentleman in a lvl 20 area who is trading for a starter sword.

Thanks for the response and in use of salvage kits... the question of initial armor and salvage is that you just trash the armor, and get the new stuff... after the new stuff then you can salvage as you woul all other armor, correct?

Somewhat on the topics of armor and such, did anybody else notice that the Outfitter who was by one of the collectors towards Ashford Abbey and the Catacombs was selling Starter Shields for 0 gold? Not sure if they ever ended up fixing that or not, unless it was intentional.
What items do you have to salvage to get bolts of Linen and Silk? I finished up at The Wilds, and never received an item which produced either of those two crafting items. |

Yeah, William, I also dealt with the same outfitter, and he was selling starter shields. It will probably be fixed by release. Maybe you should post this on the other question area for the Alphas to get a hold of... peace.
I also came across monsters in my adventure that yielded 24 bones, various monsters in various areas in 10 hours of play, to me... you all can call me the "Boneman" from now on. Peace. |

I believe the starter shields will remain at 0 in case you accidentally trash your starter shield.
