Melandru's Stalker can only be found in Pre-Searing Ascalon.
Striders / Tar Striders / Moa Birds / Violent Ostriches / Chocobos / Whatever-you-want-to-call-them can be found in Pre-Searing Ascalon, as well as in Post-Searing. They are fairly easy to come across. Snow Wolves can be found in the Northern Shiverpeaks - often the easiest way is to run in and out of Yak's Bend into the explorable areas until one spawns near the entrance. Warthogs tend to be more elusive - the only place i've seen them are deep in the explorable areas of the Maguuma Jungles. Lastly are the Lynxes, which aren't as common as they used to be. The last time i've seen one, it was roaming around in, I believe, Twin Serpent Lakes, and was level 15 - and already fully evolved. (A Dire Lynx.) That's pretty much the basic rundown. Some luck is needed as to where they'll spawn, but once you have the general indication of where to look, it is only a matter of time before you find whatever it is you're looking for. |

Thanks spooky, two more questions: is 15 the Max level of all pets and if your pet dies and you don't res it and enter a city/town is it gone forever?
P.S. does cat ears count as a pet just kiding Ren |

Of course.. I didn't bother to check at all in the March BWE, so all of this could very well be obsolete by now.. as I only stopped to look during the Feb BWE. And no, if you don't res your pet, it won't disappear. It will merely rejoin you the next time you enter a mission or a new explorable area. So.. often, people who don't bring animal resurrects run into nearby portals to res their pets. Of course, your pet won't like you very much! My cat has always reappeared after going into a town and then coming back out, even if left for dead at the last battle.

20 is the maximum level for all pets, not 15. When I said "Fully evolved", that was referring to the "Dire" in the Lynx's name. Depending on how you treated them, they would evolve to things like "Hearty Lynx", "Elder Lynx", etc.
