GuildWars question
Hey i was wondering, and i didnt see it anywhere and i've never been on the game but, does this game have something in it like ShadowBane where guilds can build capitals/cities and other guilds try to attack/invade them while others try to defend it?
That would be sweet, but i'm not sure so i figured it couldnt hurt to ask. Thanks alot everyone! |

I know there's some kind of capture-the-flag/defend-your-base with Guildhalls, yet I never played it, should be like Assault in Unreal Tournament or something like that but who knows what ANet will add later...

I don't know that this helps but if you go to the official GuildWars site and look at some of the fansite interviews. There was something about the top guild on the guild ladder controlling something, a region of the map or access to some areas of the map or something like that and that as long as...Well say some guild on the korea server is dominating the Guild Ladder then the users of their server get exclusive access to some map area until their guild is defeated by say a european based guild and then the server of that guild gets the exclusive access or control of the map. Anyway, it was something like that, I probably misinterpolated a bunch of stuff so you'd have to check for yourself but there was something. Try the fansite friday links going back the last 3 or 4 months, I believe it's there, but then again it might be entirely out of date as an idea so...sorry, best I had available.
If there is any accuracy to what I remember it's a neat idea because the PVE players on a server get a benefit when one of their guilds is the best in the world. At the same time this new area offers new or different items so the PVE players have things to offer to the PVP players in their guild. But like I said I probably jumbledeefumbled what the interviews said. |

Player communities and cities would be an interesting addition some day in the future, especially with a big world like this one. But, with the way I understand Guild Wars to be set-up, with each player on their own "server", that may be difficult.

I think he was referring to instancing instead of servers. There has been discussion of seeing a top guilds banner flying in the town or outpost areas but I don't know if that's coming or not.
No there is no way to build your own city for others to interact in. However, every guild will have access to a guild hall. Guild versus guild battles essentially put you on a battlefield with the guild halls on either end. The goal is to invade into your opponents guild hall and kill their guild lord. |
