Pre-Order vs. Collector's Edition
My wife and I pre-ordered GW. We love it, having participated in the March BWE. We're both experienced UO and EQ players. We quit EQ a while back due to some time conflicts, but those are gone now, so we're back to gaming.
We pre-ordered GW at our local Hastings. Only then did we learn that there will be a Collector's Edition. Any chance that we can pay extra to get the Collector's Edition when our copy of GW comes in? Or is that a local retail store question? We're interested in all the goodies that come in the CE. Can't anybody speed up the clock so the 27th gets here? I've already arranged a few days off work for the start of this adventure! --Vyxxen Heartstomper |

I would ask your retailer about that. EB Games has been really good about doing that and hope more stores have been too.

Yes, quite a few Hastings stores in Kansas. And usually a fair sight cheaper than Best Buy (for games) or Borders (for music/books).

I have to say, Best Buy was completely horrible for pre-ordering this game. They didnt have the pre-order boxes out in the store where anyone can buy them, you have to call in ahead and have some guy bring it out, while you just wait around the computer games looking like a complete idiot. Then when you buy it, they dont even mark down if you want a collectors edition or a regular edition or write down your name! On the release day you go in and they have a reserve copy for you, how they know if you want a collectors edition or a regular edition is beyond me. All in all, Best Buy has been completely horrible for me and im somewhat in the same boat as you Vyxxen Heartstomper

[QUOTE=Lansing Kai Don]There was another huge thread devoted to this subject. But it really comes down to calling the retailer and asking (not taking someone's word for it). Make sure your clear and concise when doing it, some Hastings (or any retailer) employee's will try to give you the short answer. If they don't, ask if when you pick up your original copy (if you could exchange it unopened for the collector's edition +$30)... they can't argue with that especially if you do it RIGHT when you get it.
Lansing Kai Don == Well, I called Hastings, and they said we were slated to get the Deluxe Edition for our preorder, but that's not the Collector's Edition. I'm going to try to see if they'll order the Collector's Edition. It seems that the person I talked to wasn't aware of the Collector's Edition. Also, they will be releasing the game on April 28th! But.... I thought pre-orders were being allowed Early Access. How can we have Early Access is we don't have the game on the 27th? Anyone know what's going on with these issues? --Vyxxen Heartstomper |

You can read about the beta access keys and how long they allow you to play here. It was part of the Fansite Friday #39 that Gaile did last week. Hope that helps with your key situation... Vai |

The box I got for the preoder said it was being released on the 27th-- I think it means anyone with a preorder can get the game on the 27th. Anyone without a preorder has to get it on the 28th, Which is supposed to be the release date. |

The pre-order kit Key gets you into the game on the 27th. The game itself gets you into the game on the 28th. Last edited by Darkmane; Apr 07, 2005 at 12:47 AM // 00:47.. Reason: added |

Also, you use your preorder keys on the 27th, then you switch over to your retail/collector's on the 28th. And as Darkmane mentioned ask for the price. Lansign Kai Don |
