Benefits of pure build or w/ secondary?
Sorry if this has been brought up before but I checked the faq and it wasn't explained there so i thought I'd post it. What exactly is the difference between a pure, one prof. build and one with a secondary prof.? Are pure builds inherently weaker, like FFXI? I notice just about every build I've seen has a secondary prof. so I'm leaning towards this opinion. Can anyone clarify this for me please?

having pure build(only warrior) only gives you less skill options.
it will not make you stronger or weaker(base on warrior only) you can build pure warrior with having 2nd profession by concentrating points on your warrior attributes(and use only warrior skills). therefore there is no difference between pure warrior and warrior/x except number of skill choices(if you choose 2nd profession...you will have option for 2nd profession skills) personally....i would pick 2nd profession. because then...if i want pure warrior..i can focus on warrior attributes. if i change my mind...i can always use refund points to re-distibute my attributes rather than starting my character all over again. it's upto you |

There's no reason to take a single profession when you can dual class, and it literally only takes maybe 5 minutes more to pick up that second profession while you're in Pre-Searing Ascalon.
Some people like the idea of being single class because it "looks cool" to have an "R" on top of your head instead of "R/Mo", but that's about the only reason i've ever heard from anyone leaning towards this decision. Taking a secondary, even if it's only for one skill that you might use someday, will only help by providing you with flexibility. |

The advantage of taking only a single class is that your opponents will laugh at you and think that you're a total n00b, giving you a slight psychological advantage in the coming fight.
Unfortunately, every player I've encountered with a single-class character has been a total n00b, so the advantage didn't amount to much. Peace, -CxE

On that note I'll probably end up taking a second profession anyway to throw off my opponenets. Like one of the above posters said. There's no reason NOT to take a second profession. At the very least you can make your opponents wonder when you'll throw down some crazy skill from your alternate profession. |
