I just logged in a few minutes ago and it asked for my pre-order key?

I'm assuming it meant retail key, meaning they are getting ready for release.

No. I'm fairly sure they are asking for *other* preorder keys. In case you are one of those psychotic people who decided to get every version of the preorder so you could get every preorder weapon that exists, they are allowing you to enter all your preorder keys.
