Why not overclock that processor? 20% overclock should work.

It's a Celeron. The cache is half of normal and the processor itself will offer few benefits for an overclock. Not to mention cooling is key when overclocking, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who appears to "need" it.

Actually .. the celeron line were highly overclockable depending on your chip. (If the chip is already rated high then it may not be overclockable). Regardless, I personally do not recommend Overclocking. The price of CPU's these days that will probably work in a 'celeron' machine will be better than overclocking. Why not give us your PC specs .. motherboard/cpu /video /memory. That way we can give you a better educated guess on what you should do to upgrade. Without spending much.

You guys are talking about a "Celeron" here. We have no idea if it's a Celeron 700 or a Celeron 2.4G. We don't know if this guy has a Dell with integrated video or a decent video card.
While a Celeron processor isn't as powerful as a P4 clocked the same, I think you'll find what you have will suffice if it's ~1.4+ghz. I wouldn't try and play with any crappy integrated video, though I hear people are able to get the game to run on it. If you're not interested in a decent video card, spend 60 bucks and pick up a 128-bit Radeon 9550. You will find a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE between that and an integrated video card. Just make sure that you have an AGP slot. If you have only PCI or a PCI-E slot then you'll need to find a different card. |
