Guild Wars: Good, Bad, or Ugly?
Hey everyone. I just found out about Guild Wars a few days ago...yeah I know I'm slow...but I was just wondering a few things, and I would like to ask you beta testers some questions. First, I was wondering: Is this a fun game to play? I'm not really into the whole graphics thing, I go for pure gameplay. Secondly: Is this game better than World of Warcraft or Everquest 2? I have played both those and was not very impressed with either of them. Lastly: does this game get tedious and old after a while, or does it stay fun for long periods of play? Any help would be appreciated from you all, so if you care to give me your input, please do. Thanks.

Other than that... GoW is different than say WoW and EQ2 It shouldnt get tedious and even if it does, you DO NOT PAY EVERY MONTH. So you dont have to feel like you have to go back all the time |

Oh boy, I've played both Everquest2 and WoW, and you're in for a TREAT!
Of course it depends on what you like to do, but the sheer variety of playing styles and character skill mix options is breathtaking, let alone the immensity of the environment, no camping, etc, etc, etc. As Nike says.....JUST DO IT! You won't be sorry. Svet |

Yes it's fun, yes it's better than WoW and EQ2, no it doesn't get tedious.
But then again, what else would people say on a fan-forum? |

If you want unbiased opinions about something, don't ask in a FAN
site for that thing you are interested in. :P Anyways, This game rocks for too many reasons to be listed. |

To answer your original question simply, this game gets rid of all the things that make the other fantasy-based MMORPGs tedius and not fun. Grinding XP and levels are not the points of this game. The PvE and PvP options are breakthrough.

Here's a short list of what I think is good about GW: 1) Instanced areas. Every hunting area or mission is instanced for you and your team. No camping-no other player teams even in the zone with you. 2) One world. You can always play with ANYONE who is online. Each "safe" area has multiple copies of itself (called district 1,2,3, etc.) you can easily access and transport to. You never have to worry about your freinds being on another server. 3) Stuff to do. The PVE is very diverse with tons of things to do...and it's supported by a good storyline. 4) Character Diversity. You can build a huge variety of characters with an even wider variety of skills. 5) No uber loot. Your playing skill and choice of abilities will be the difference between victory or defeat...not some weapon or armor you don't have yet. 6) PvP but no ganking. Speaks for itself. |

Simply put its not exactly like Diablo. It is much better than any game I played. Eq Diablo EqII DAOC Now, DAOC is still a great game, but I am moving onto the GuildWars bandwagon. There really isnt anything you can compare it to, because it is kind of a new Genre of gameplay. It is classified as a CORPG. You really must try it and give it a chance like all other games. The reason someone stated its not very smart to post a question like this on a site meant for GuildWars fans, is because your not likely to find someone bashing guildwars or a truely UNbiased opinion. Besides, once you play it once. You will become biased no matter which way you feel. The game is simply awsome. I hope every gamer gives it a shot. |

Inaccurate, according to many of the former Diablo 2 players who've commented about it. The gameplay requires a decent amount of strategy, co-operation and co-ordination amongst the members of your group. Successfully managing to complete whatever your objective is can be fairly challenging, but it's fun to do and satisfying when you do. The limited array of skills you can take into an instance makes the 'building' stage of your character a challenging treat. And the fact that missions and explorable areas are instanced gets rid of the usual player-killing, corpse/spawn point camping and loot-grabbing. Way more fun. If there's a downside, it's that the backstory seemed a bit thin, but we all have to remember that we've only played various incarnations of the Beta, so there may end up being a much richer, more detailed storyline in the game than anyone here has experienced. After all, if the whole story was available to players of the Beta, we wouldn't really need to buy the game, now would we? All in all, my own experience has been a great deal of fun, so I can hardly wait for tomorrow. P.S.: Do be sure to read Nietzsche either in the original German or in translations by Walter Kaufman -- the older translations are wildly inaccurate. |

it is very unique game
since everyone has different tastes...my best answer is to try it out it wont hurt too much to try it out as it has no monthly fees. totally upto you hope you will enjoy it alot oh..and for those guildwars terms, someone has made excellent thread about this. check out this http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149 it has almost all hope it helps p.s: "camping" means where player camps near spawn zone to kill other player. this was not in the guildwars term because such thing as camping doesnt exist in guildwars.(someone can correct me if im wrong) "district" is where everyone hangs around. place where you form group before entering a mission. lots of social events take place in districts oh..1 more thing...the cat avatar you got is very cute Last edited by Kirbie; Apr 27, 2005 at 02:44 AM // 02:44.. |

I am going to answer your question the best way I can.
Go and spend $.01 at ebgames or Target Use the pre-order key to play on the 27 and the 28 and decide for yourself. You will be out some great game time a little gas and $.01. If you do like it you will get the pre-order bonus item. That is the best I can do for you. I hope this answers your question. |
