Once you reach the level cap and got all your skills does the character advancement stops or are there alternative ways to keep improving/advancing your character?

From what I understand the ways to advance when you reach Ascension (What level 20 is called) are equipment and skills. I believe you can also change your seconday at ascension, but I don't know how that works.

Just to clarify: Ascension is something that happens within the plot, and isn't related to your character's level. And yes, at that point in time, you will be able to change your character's Secondary to go on acquiring skills until you've got them all (or all the ones you want, at least.)
