I just called my Local EB and they said, even thought I pre ordered it, I can't pick mine up till the 28th......

so looks like at least my local EB is sticking with the 28th date....

I received my game UPS today. My questions is, it has 2 install cd's. If I try to install it now, will it want my retail key and will that knock me out of early access on the 27th? Should I wait to install it until the 28th? Can I play on the 27th with just the client I downloaded and played the last beta with?

to be safe than assuming incorrectly...if you are worried about not playing on the 27th, don't install the retail version until the 28th and only then use the retail key.

i pre-ordered the game. here are my VERY specific questions.

Yes. The beta key will work from the 12midnight PST on the 27th till midnight the 28th PST.

No, but you will need it after the 28th.

Hey, I pre-ordered guild wars again today(long story, had to cancel the pre-order from best buy because of their gross incompetance) from a store nearby me, andthey were out of early access keys (the main reason i pre-ordered>_<) anyway, they said they MIGHT be getting more in tommorow but weren't sure. . .My question is, If I am unable to get the early access key from the gamestop where i placed the pre-order today, Can I get the key from the comapny or some other place? if so where? and how?

Don't believe so other than the store you preordered from. They didn't even mention about the key to me, so I am going there tomorrow. If they don't have it, *shurgs*, guess I'll wait till the 28th.

i pre-ordered eq2 from ebgames...a couple guildies lived a few hours from me and they also ordered from ebgames...they both were playing almost 2 days by the time my ebgames was willing to release the pre-orders.

comp usa was handing out pre-orders TWO DAYS AGO!

my ebgames said i could pick up my guild wars pre-order tomorrow, but some ebgames have handed them out today.

it's all a big retarded mess really. there is NO GOOD reason why an mmo can't be sold weeks prior to the release date. so what if we have the box two weeks before release? we can't play until they open the servers up for business.

In general, it is done to save confusion among those who are not oritented with he game or understand that the game will start later. By releasing it the day they plan to go "live", people can buy and play at the same time without any confusion.

Well I don't know if I'd go as far as two weeks, but I could see at least letting people get it the day before and just having a message in game explicitly explaining when you will be able to play if you try to before live time. I've always liked Walmart for getting my games if I don't order online from EBGames since the 24hr one near me always lets me have it at midnight the day it goes live.

EDIT:

I think you get to reuse the name whenever you want within an hour. Everyone else has to wait an hour if you delete your character and they want to use your name.

For what it is worth, EB has my actual game copy available tonight, so I would assume you will use your regular game key to get into the preorder special play time.

I was finally able to get to the account setup and only had my retail key entered and it said I was eligible to play on the 28th. Once I also entered my preorder key, I was eligible for the early play on the 27th and got the bow.

~For those who did pre-order and don't have the retail version in stores till April-28th you can still play the game with your early access on the 27th and for the next 48hours.

~Anytime during that 48hours you can go to the store and get the game when the suppliers finally ship it to your town.

~After the 48hours if you still haven't got the retail game you will be locked out until you enter the retail code.

I preordered and only recieved a retail key. where did you find your access key?

the 'preorder' key is the beta access passcode, the code inside your CD Case is for the early access event...
