npc collectors - Guild Wars Forums

When I go to a collector if I have 5 or 3 or whatever that the collector is looking for, the collector will offer me several items. One of them is say for example a pair of leather boots (if i'm a ranger). Or a better pair of leggings (if i'm a mesmer) ..

but when my friend goes to the same collector as a necromancer, he doesn't get the option for the footwear.

the only 2 differences are

1. he is a necro and i'm a ranger in that game

and

2. i bought the pre-order box and now the retail box and he only bought the retail version.

any ideas of why the footwear won't show for him?
is there a different collector that he has to go to for footwear?

I believe it is all based on your professions. I'm assuming this since most of the collectors and missions will give me hammers, ringmail armor, and protection icons (I'm a W/Mo.) I would think each collector would give the same type of item just for different professions, but if your information is accurate then I guess not. Might make it harder to record information about this for fansites.

i wonder if it would have anything to do with who is the leader of the group... will look into that next time i play

Yeah, it is based on classes. Just because a Collector gives you a better armor piece doesn't mean it will offer your friend the same (unless he is the same class of course). You just have to explore and find all the Collectors.

Good luck. I still need to find one more Collector, but not sure where I haven't looked. /sigh
