In guild wars they don't try to stretch 40 hours of content out for a few thousand hours with time and money sinks just to get you to subscribe for a longer period...they don't care how long you play, they just want to make the game so good that you just HAVE to buy the expansions. What a fresh environment. |

ok.. thats more like my big reason for playing GW.... all i can really say about GW is that its well built, it has it all IMO, adventure, fun, easy yet hard at the same time, looks great and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. the EXP grind isnt bad, infact, i dont even care about EXP, just wanna do quests to get more skills and equipment ><. fast paced and yet its not, the battles are awsome and it takes a bit more brain power to play then most RPGs. it has an awsome pve IMO, and i cant wait to try out the pvp. the only time you have to deal with strangers is when your in a town and other then that you have the whole world to yourself, ya, so you dont get to run into someone camping a spot, big woop, i would rather meet people while in town doing near nothing then out in the wild while grinding. but either way, theres a TON of stuff to do and the world looks HUDGE and ive only seen a little bit of it. if you want something fresh, a game that busted outa the box, get GW, if you like the tipical EXP grind and all that jazz that MMO's have become... dont bother IMO then. GW sits outside the box, waaay outside, while all the other MMOs sit nicely deep inside the box. |

True, no monthly fee. But only because that money will be going towards the expansions that follow

Here's the break down:
WoW = $15 per month GW Expasion pack = approx. $50 (I'm just guessing it will cost as much as the game itself.) 6 months of WoW = $90 subscription fees 6 months of GW = Approx $50 expansion pack Which is a better value? Plus you don't have to buy expansion packs you can By GW and build several characters and unlock all spells and complete every mission should last you a year. Let alone the expansion packs. |

I also left WoW for this, no subscription, loads of my mates are playing it, simple. Plus, IMO, it's better.

This game has no grind at all, WoW is a grind-fest. WoW has PK'ing, oh did I mention crap PvP? Everything is pushing for GW to be better, there is nothing better about WoW. Especially community. Here's a nice site you might never have heard of with lots of information: www.guildwars.com. --Ginko |

"6 months of WoW = $90 subscription fees
6 months of GW = Approx $50 expansion pack" you are also forgetting the inevitiable expansion pack for WoW that will cost 30$ |

Well, so far everyone is venting about the frustration thye've had with other MMOs, how praise GW for addressing those issues.
So, GW stand a much greater chance because they've attacked the issues that have made other games so weak. |

Free online play!
I honestly FEEL as though this game deserves an online fee cause it's that good but the best BEST part is that it DOESN'T WANT UR MONEY! What it does want is to entertain you WAAYYY past you hit the maximum level mark which you can get quite early. Unlike what some may say, GW has a FANTASTIC rpg PvE environment where not only are we given pretty graphics [nice looks aren't enough you say?] the GAMEPLAY OWNS ME!!! I'm saddened by my g/f and other friends who seem to compare gw to Diablo II. I say bah, too many options for their simple minds to understand. "It's just got the same basic classes any other mmorpg would have." They say. I say, odd, I don't remember ever seeing a healing necromancer, a magic using warrior, or a tanking magic user all at the same time in any game before... Sheesh, for the closed minded, this game isn't for you... For those who want FREEDOM THAT IS FREE TO PLAY AND FUN TO BOOT!!! Let this game be your blessing... ^_^ Btw, these character designs are also uber sexy...... Nothing like hot ladies and such to stick me to a game... ^_^ |

Hmmm I agree that its not exactly like WoW, but the CORPG gener was basicly made up by Anet. Id still consider this a MMO ( Massive Multiplayer Online) |

i've always hated dueling. pvp in GW is designed to be balanced, and to pit level against level using strategy. traditional dueling is all about who just spent 3 months grinding to buy an uber sword or insane resist armor. |

GW imo, has the prettiest graphics ive ever seen. No monthly fee is a huge plus for me, as right now myself and 3 kids are playing it yet I just had to buy 4 games and not 4 games plus 4 accounts per month. I dont care if they play for a week and move on to something else. But so far, my eldest daughter(14) who has only ever played sims games, is totally hooked. the other 2 are right there too. I love the instanced zones because it just gives me more peace of mind that my younger kids aren't being harrassed and ganked, or abused in any way 90% of the time.
All the other MMO's are 50 bucks, then at least 1 expansion a year, which times 4 i'd have to get a 2nd job to pay for. But GW I just buy expansions. The real grabber for me is that they WANT us to buy the expansions, so the liklihood of them listening to what we want is much greater, they will be less likely to rest on their laurels, they will keep working to make sure that I and my family will love this game for a long time to come. |

I've played a good number of mmorpgs, EQ, FFXI, WoW, MxO... and some of the not quite considered mmorpg's such as diablo, diablo II, and phantasy star online. Now I have GW! It's free, great graphics, no lag, and so far good story and interesting quests. My only question is how long will those quests last me!? When I play an mmorpg or any kind of rpg for that matter, it's all about the story, adventure, and exploration for me. That is why I've quit some of the other games. MxO because buildings and streets are boring plus I like creatures and the graphics kinda sucked. WoW was great and i had no problem with the lvl grinding of that game cause I was a Hunter and soloed the whole game and only played the instance areas with a group everynow and then, but problem was there is no story and the quests were repetitive and boring and I got to max lvl too fast and then had nothing to do but pvp and i'm not much for pvp... or at least not pvp in a game like that cause the pvp system of WoW sucks ass. FFXI had great graphics and story but the grinding of that game is pure hell and there are way too much restricions on every aspect of the game and no freedom to play the way you want and be the character you want, everyone running around like a bunch of lemmings, and no way to solo what so every, hell can't even party without a full party with the right jobs. EQ.. well, EQ sucked... that all there is to it.
So, as long as there are enough places to explore and they keep the quests coming and the game is free, i'm happy, but just how much content do we have til the next expansion is released is the question?! I ran thru WoW in like 2 - 2 1/2 months, will this game keep me occupied for the next 6 months not counting the pvp, though i'm sure i'll love pvp in this game way more than other games, i'm still all about the adventure. If i get to 20 and all the now available quests and story and places within the first month, that'll suck for the next 5 or so months til the expansion! |
