Playing with beta keys? - Guild Wars Forums

Hey everyone,

Has anyone been able to play with their beta keys? I just installed the game and it took me to the log in screen. Low and behold, all my BWE characters are there (level 1, start gear + preorder bow of course) and I'm able to log in and run around town (at least) with no problems.

Thing is, I never entered any access code that came with the package. Are the BWE keys still temporarily active, or... WTF?

From 12:01am PDT on the 27th, to 11:59pm PDT on the 28th you can play on your beta key. After that you must enter a retail key to continue playing.
You can still play with your Beta Key for the next 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Alrighty. I was going to be somewhat annoyed if I'd paid for the game and the beta keys still worked! Thanks for the quick reply!

Spiritofcat, what happens to my boxed code that I put into the game when I installed the boxed version. Will it recognize it as the boxed key code, or tell me it's a key code already in use. I couldn't find anywhere any directions on how this works, so just added the key on the login page to the left where it said 'add other key codes here'.

I believe that you simply add it in the "Add other codes here" section. Worked for me, and it recognized that it was retail.

I don't have my retail code yet so I don't know, but I've heard you just enter it and then you can play for ever. I think you did it right. You can also enter extra preorder codes in there to get more preorder items.

Thanks to all. I guess I'll find out in the morning if it worked right. Still don't have my 'glow' though that you're supposed to get with the CE box. Maybe tomorrow.

Chance Folly, how did you know it recognized it as a retail key. Mine never said anything at all about a retail key. Just popped me into the game.

I havent gotten a chance to go out and get the game yet... but i was wondering why they're still letting us play?... they've never gone back on their word (all the bwe's they kick you right out)... im playing with just my pre-order key as of now, i just logged off... i guess ill get on later too...? gives me more leniency till i get some time to go to best buy...
