Necromancer Second Profession
Anyone able to give some insight/advice on what you think the best second profession would be for a necromancer? I really dig pets so I was thinking going with a Ranger so I can have lots of pets and deal damage from afar, but I have also been using some Mesmer skills and the extra healing I get is nice as well. Any advice on what you think the best second profession would be to compliment the Necro's primary skillset would be extremely helpful.

For PvE a Monk secondary is always a good choice. Pet is also but not alot of other stuff from the Ranger line is big for a Necro unless you want to use Troll Ungent which is one of the best self heals. Messemer.....sort of not a PvE buidl really but you can use some stuff effectively like DoT.

Ok I keep seeing it and I am not going to pretend to be not totally ignorant anymore. So what does PvE stand for? I know what PvP is obviously.... but Person Vs. Environment???

Granted it would be nice to have some self healing skills like the Troll Ungent in a Necro/Ranger build but I honestly think that is the only unique thing the Rnger build brings seeing as how I already have a "pet" ability with my Necro and I can deal decent distance damage with my Elemental line. Post Searing seems to be working fairly well solo also. I did notice that on some of the academy missions where I face other opponents (PvP) that I needed to tweak my customary PvE build to include some of the more "group" beneficial spells to ensure victory (and less deaths). My first mission ended up against a group that almost all had Ranger as a second or first so we faced-off against pets and PCs (twice the number of opponents) I ended up resorting to wading into the opponents rather than hanging back firing from distance. I then unleashed AoE spells meant to do as much damage as possible to as many people as possibly (Rain of Fire, Exploding Corpses etc...). To be honest I like a challenge, everyone wants to play the uber template but what fun or skill is there in that? Instead I am refining a build that requires me to think a little but does a ton of damage in a short amount of time. Oh and PvE is you against the game/machine which is exactly opposite of PvP. PvE is anything you do not involved with killing other players. Also it should be noted that it requires you play differently than you do which requires you to rework you build based on what you are doing... |
