Pre-ordering is fine, but don't pay for the entire game - that's just asking for trouble. Put down 5 dollars, then pay the rest when you go to pick up the game. This way, if another retailer has the game in-stock quicker, you can go over there, buy it, then take it back to the place you pre-ordered from and get your $5 back. I know EB Games has a policy like this, and I think most places do. I'll never understand why someone would willingly pay $50 for a game 8 months before it comes out.

I had a similar experience, and I think it turned out okay. My wife and I pre-ordered two copies at Hastings ($5.00 per) for the March BWE. After the weekend, we just looked at each other, and smiled, and said... "Oh yes!" And I've been in the forums ever since (especially, and almost exclusively GWGuru. great place guys!)

I found out about the Collector's Edition and thought, neat, kewl! And so we wanted to make sure we got that. Well, Hastings said that we got the "Deluxe" version, and explained what was in it (not the CE stuff, that's for sure), and that it was $64.95. We asked them if they'd order the CE for us and we'd pay the difference, but they said that the CE wasn't in their system, and that "corporate" had to order it and get it in the system for them to be able to order it. Well, that made no sense to me.

So I called Best Buy, who said we could pre-order the game, but not the CE.

Finally, we went to EB Games - we pre-ordered there, and will pick up the CE edition on the 28th. They'll even call us!

And, to make things better, IF Hastings does offer the CE instead of our "Deluxe," and keeps the price the same, then we'll get the CE there. If not, I'll deal with EB games who was SO much more professional than Hastings.

Lastly, Hastings said that if we didn't pick up the pre-order, we could still use the $10 bucks we spent on the pre-order as gift cards for other store merchandise.

So that last question is........ do we want to buy 2 or 4 packages?

The reason the order was cancelled was because the manufacturer decided not to make a Deluxe version, and instead made Guild Wars Collector's Edition - Windows, which has different features and price from the Deluxe version.

Gee.. thanks BestBuy, Just cancell my order, Dont opt for me to pay the extra 15 bucks. Now i own 2 copys of the pre-order and dont have 10 off the price of the game. I think this is Bogus.

Now that i own 2 pre-orders do i still get the BestBuy "Kathans Targe" the whole reason i bought from BestBuy, I think they should have sent me the Collectors Edition with a $15 bill, rather than cancell my Dulexe Edition and cause me to go Postal. This is the last time i pre-order anything online.

Best buy is really understanding about this. But if NCsoft cancels a game there is nothing BB can do about it. They cant sell you something if it isnt there. and they cant auto bill you that $15 cause it is illegal. Your blame should be more towards the marketing department at NCsoft or afiliates. Also on all oer- orders you can cancel it and get the money back or have it moved on to another game you want to play as its pre order.

I asked a few days ago if it was still valid, and have yet to have a customer service representative email me back. It has the description of "NCsoft-Guild Wars Deluxe-Windows" for $63.59 after shipping. The current status is listed as pre-ordered, with a release date of 4/28. I hope they will honor this purchase.

Not...they cancelled all our pre-orders, but they are willing to give me a $10 electronic ticket twoards the purchase of the Collectors Edition. We will see what happens when i go to use it. Anyway its better to buy games from people who hire gamers since the clerks have a clue to what your talking about. Not just what's on sale this week and company policy made me read this screen.

Just wanted to mention the BestBuy purchase went smoothly for me. I brought my preorder box and my reciept and I paid the rest ($70) of the price for collector's edition, and it was all good. Hope other orders can go as smoothly.

Yeah. They tried to do it to me, but I Pre-Paid at $59.99. They had no choice but to give me the collectors edition that I paid for. If you pre-order, but haven't paid, they can change the details any time they want, and this includes charging it on a credit card, since they don't charge your card until it ships or you pick it up.

Best buy is horrible. They refuse to answer emails, and deserve to be burned. They sent me my friends code, when they delivered it (29th april) which is slightly late, dont ya think ?

Yeah, I had a similar problem with Gamestop. I went ahead and pre ordered throuf Fry's Electronics.

I would up with 2 preorderd, also.

Simply games sucks also, my order was dispatched wednesday, and it still hasnt arrived ( saturday 30th april).

I contacted simplygames and they said its now in the hands of the royal mail.

What should I do?
