How do I use Crafter bought items - Guild Wars Forums

I just started 2 days ago and have amass some salvaged crafting items. Currently I have a lvl 4 Warrior. I just purchased a flaming Artifact from the Crafter. My guess is that I can use this artifact to maybe enchant my sword to make it have more damage or make it look flaming. There are alot of things I can buy from the crafter but I have no idea how to use it unless it's a straight out weapons purchase.

it simply does what it says
you need a specific weapon upgrade item (like a hilt for example)
they do not give flaming swords away from crafters

If you want to upgrade your sword, the only way would be to find a sword pommel or hilt. Which can be slavage from swords by using an expert salvage kit. some sword pommels add enchanting or fortitude and other things.

Artifacts, Icons, Chakra and etc. go in your offhand slot and just add some energy. Some magical ones also add defense and other effects. They are just like shields.
