Skill Points?
Three quick questions on skill points:
1) Do they serve any other purpose besides buying skills from a trainer? 2) Are they worth saving, in that certain skills are only available to buy from a trainer and not attainable via questing? 3) Do later skills (Elites) bought from a trainer cost more than one skill point to attain? Thanks again in advance for your help. |

A1: Skill points are alot more usefull as you think, best to save them up.
A2: Refer to answer 1, but you can obtain then from questing, and every time you level up you get a few, and once your level 20, you can still get them. A3: You can obtain most elite skills from boss monsters, so you don't really need skill points for elite skills. Regards, Ashleigh. |

actually, the real answers to your questions are as follows, they serve the purpose of buying skills from the skill trainers, that is all, and yes they are important, while there are no skill trainers that sell elites (with maybe the exception of the ring of fire which i havent been to) the bosses use elite skills and to get those you need a signet of capture, you can get one signet of capture from a quest in lions arch, but if you want more than one elite skill for variation, or theres a skill you just cant find with a quest, use the signet of capture and steal it from a boss, since the signets get replaced with the new skill, you'll need to buy more than one if you want different elites

I know this is a silly question, but how exactly do you purchase skills? I'm in Pre-Searing, and I'm a Warrior/Elementalist. I've been to several trainers and done all the quests they've given me. I've gotten several skills, but my "Hero" screen says I have 6 skill points to spend, and I can't figure out how to do this...
Am I totally off on how the system works? |

With the new setup you don't HAVE to use your skill points to buy skills if you can find the person who will give them to you for doing a quest. The trick is finding the person with the skills you want!

Ok, so if none of the presearing trainers will even offer any skills, its just because I got them already from questing? I figured you could level them up or something, like purchase a level 2 skill or whatever.

There are no skill trainers in pre-searing. The first one is in post-sear Ascalon, and he offers the skills you could have gotten by questing in pre-sear.

Ok good, I'm not crazy then. I think this could be explained better in the game or manual. It probably works for those new to gaming, but for the rest, it's just confusing.
Thanks for clearing that up. |
