Salvage Item Question - Guild Wars Forums

So i found an item called "Satlker Armor Of Minor Curses" which has the property "Imporves Curses".

Which is great because im a Necro, but i cannot figure what im supposed to do with this...

I searched around in the forums and all ive been able to find is people finding runes i with skill properties, Do i salvage this items?

Or does it sit in my inventory like a charm that adds a % of dmg to my curse spells? If so i havent noticed any change in the time duration of my curse's nor dmg.

u can't reuse any armor like you do with weapons. get an expert salvage kit and get whatever is inside there and enjoy it if you succeed

If you use an expert salvage kit on it you will have a chance of getting the Rune for yourself. Then you can apply it to your equipment by double-clicking the rune and then clicking the equipment you want it on. Leaving it in your inventory will not give you any bonuses.

I have a question in the same vein.

I found a blue staff that, when I identified, said I unlocked. I'm guessing that means I can use it for PVP character. But anyway, I used my expert Salvage kit on it and got an upgrade component called Staff Wrappings of Fortitude (+21 health). I dbl+clicked on the item and saw that I cannot upgrade any of my stuff. Can that item only upgrade staffs, and if so, if I wanted to say, upgread my helm, I would have to get an upgrade component that I salvaged from a rare helm?

Yes, some upgrades will only work on specific weapon types. There are hafts, strings, wrappings, and several other kinds that will only work on their particular weapon type. Sometimes you will unlock runes, and if you can salvage the rune you can put those on your armor pieces. There aren't any helm or body armor specific upgrades as far as I know.

Also, you are correct about the PvP thing. If it says you unlocked something, that means for your PvP characters.

Yea, I forgot that armor doesn't actually drop but salvagable items. I had a REALLY lucky drop in my favor at the same time. During the Borlis Pass mission, I got a purple dawrven armor which I used my expert salvage kit on and got 1 steel ingot. I got the same thing from a blue sheild plus the upgrade from a blue staff. No runes though...

I won the game =)
