Guide's to Newbs.
hello all. I'm new to the guild wars MMO. I am trying to learn as much as i can before i get the game. First off,
a) I live in Australia, since i do, what server would be best for me to join? And what world has the most players? b) Is the game even available in australia through video game stores or just online? c) Did the game come out on 28th of april? Please answer these as i have reasons for these questions. Thanks Subject Edited By Ashleigh McMahon: Changed title to be less offensive, and to represent it's meaning of new players. |

A1; I would try Europe, it's probably the best , but you could choose the american servers, theres more english speekers in there.
A2:I THINK you can have the game shipped to Austrailia. A3: The game was released 28th april. Regards, Ashleigh. |

I'm an australian who's been playing since last Thursday. As to your questions...
1) I recommend choosing the American world, as everyone speaks English, and it's a quicker connection to here than Europe. Not sure which world has the most players but there is a decent amount in America even during our evenings. 2) The only shope you can buy it at here is EBGames (they have an exclusive deal) - otherwise you'll have to get it online. I got mine from EB for $90. 3) Yes! |

Chewie: I'm on the European server and I don't see how it could go any faster, and I'm on a 320k modem. Unless you're lead to falsly believe that the US has the fastest connections

GW is coping fine on my pc, however yes I have got lag at times. It seems to generally happen that I'll get a whole lot of lag for a few hours, but the next day it will be fine. Only happened once so fat.
Sekkira: I was just basing that because America is usually the internet 'hub' of the world - ie. to get to Europe you normally have to go through America first anyway. |

That's not true at all Chewie, we aren't primitive here in Australia, we do have international piping going to various other continents :P
Generally you'll find all the Australians on the US servers, more english speakers, and (whether you want to believe it or not) the connection IS faster (europe has quite a number more hops to travel I'd imagine) and i'm not geographically aware of where the server is located. Technically speaking, the Korean server is fastest for us, we have piping direct to Asia, but uh...yeah, that's going to be massively populated and the language barrier will be ^^ frustrating. Still, being international, you won't notice the different anyway, and by all reports GW runs very very well on even the most meagre of internet connections. I haven't experienced any lag problems at all (but i'm on cable). BTW, as was aforementioned, you don't have to order GW online or anything, your local EB will reserve you a copy from their next shipping cycle (unless they have some on the shelf, which would be surprising given how quickly they were snapped up here in Melbourne). www.anzgw.com - for all stuff guild wars and australian! |
