Point of View/"camera" won't hold still?
I hope this is the best forum to ask this question:
When I stop moving, the "point of view camera" I have postioned behind me doesn't stop with me;it usually swoops around either above me or in front and facing me.This drives me nuts as I can't see what I was intending to face(often an opponent). Any way to get the viewpoint to hold it's position when I stop moving? Thanks. |

I know the crazy floating camera has been covered here before but I got a reply from GW techs about this, basically suggesting I search fan forums for the answer.Oh well.I guess one answer is to navigate with the arrow keys with one hand, and use the mouse in the other hand just for positioning.

i assume you're using the mouse to move. thats what i do too. and the problem is that the camera will face the direction it was last in while you were stationary; eg. before you started running, you were facing north. When you stop running you're facing south, so the camera swings round to look behind you.
Most people simply use the keys to get over this, or you can hold in the right mouse button as soon as you stop running to block the movement |

Thanks for your reply.Yes,I was using a mouse and asked GW how one might lock the camera in one preferred position. So now I'm moving with the arrow keys with my right hand, and adjusting positions and actions with a trackball with my left hand.

I haven't encountered this problem, other than when I've died... only because I play GW with the same setup as I would in a FPS. It's all about the WASD and mouse control!

Ahh,I see.I was used to simple Diablo/Sacred actions and fixed isometric views,so the excellent controllability with GW takes a little getting used to!I love it though.

GW obviously offers the 'click there to travel there' movement method, but that simply does not work in a 3D game. For Diablo, Diablo2(LoD) and Sacred, it was fine... for GW... go with a WASD setup, and do the 'right-click camera movement'. It will save you time and frustration.
