I was just wondering when/if they will be enabled for this board?

As long as images are disabled I am fine with signatures. I hope they allow them down the road to promote guilds/chars (in-game names), etc.

It's like this. We launched a rather small and insignificant fansite back at the start of February and have, since that time, grown to be one of the largest - in fact, by most reports *the* biggest - GW fansites around. We're obviously proud of this growth and the success of this site but size brings problems. For one, we weren't expecting this much traffic for a long time. We've gone through three server moves already as the load increases and if our growth rate is even half of what it's been we'll have to do so again and we're *still* sucking bandwidth like there's no tomorrow. In short, it's getting increasingly expensive to keep things running here and, unlike the other large GW fansites we're independant - we don't have a network or a large company backing us. We're looking at ways of paying for all that bandwidth and, as much as we find them distasteful, we might have to do things like put up ads around the place. But, at the same time we're looking at ways of limiting our costs in the first place and part of that is disabling signatures. By whatever quirk our boards have to load each signature individually every time a page is loaded - something that doesn't seem to happen with avatars (Not that I'd really know, this is just what I've been told). That adds up. So, keeping signatures disabled allows us to put off making some hard choices about just how our finances are playing out. It's not something we're entirely happy about and we hope to someday restore them but for now it's just something we'll have to put up with. We apologize for the inconveiniance but we'd rather have a forum without sigs than have sigs force us to close the forums down.

I'll point out that signatures are not completely disabled, you can still have one displayed in your personal profile, it's just that they can't be displayed with each post of yours in a thread.
