Auto-follow?
I did a search and couldn't find anything. Is there a Follow feature? Or should I just press 'R' andturn? Thanks.

I could not find it either and I dont think there is such a thing. But if you press <tab> and than point on a name you will automaticly run to that person/place. And if thats a partymember who is moving you will follow until you reach him.

Ctrl + Double clicking on ally
half works though, if they stop moving your following ends |

If I target someone and do the default action I will run up to them and stop (and no longer follow).
If I control+double click someone I'll actually announce "I'm following xxx" and run up to them...and *still* stop following once I reach them. What's the point of having these two methods if neither is a true auto-follow? I guess I can't go afk for a moment unless the person I'm following runs in circles? A true autofollow would be great! |

An Autofollow feature would probably atract many AFKers to the game, which wouldn't be good to the community. However I recognise that it would be usefull in cases when we need a snack from the kitchen, phone rings, WC, whatever...
All in all I like it because it makes peple play actively if they want to level up, gain skills etc. Cheers. --Qin |

But can you even get XP when you're AFK? I thought you had to do damage to the mob in order to get XP.
Anyway, it doesn't bother me much. But at least if you gotta go AFK and the party continues on, the mobs won't respawn and kill you as you try to reach them |

Why do you need an auto follow? Wouldn't the negatives of being taken into enemy hordes or into wrong positions outway the advantages?

Humm, I forgot that, Talus, you're right.
Put it this way, Jerry, you need to be skilled controling your movement and view perspective if you want to follow your party leader without lagging behind and therefore keeping the party toghether and organized. Simply hitting AutoFollow button would be too easy, wouldn't it? Anyway, you can still follow someone when he walks (or is) away from you, and when he moves again you repet the process. It didn't work on the game I played before but sure it can work on other titles. EDIT: Talus, damage isn't the only way to get experience from a mob. You need to make the monster "hate" you, either by atacking the monster or supporting your party. Experience is awarded according to the "hate" level you got for that monster. Check these guides in SoF's site if you want a better understanding of it Chers. --Qin Last edited by Qin Shi Huang; May 05, 2005 at 12:05 PM // 12:05.. |

The AFK thing is a good point, though. With no monthly fee, two-boxing could seem mighty appealing, but with no Auto-Follow I suppose it'd be kind of a pain.

Really there are plenty of legitimate reasons why you might have to go afk.
Right now it really causes your team an inconvenience. How about, while autofollowing, you gain no xp and get no item drops? That might make it more "fair" with regards to some of the possible abuses others have commented on. You'd still be able to keep enchantments up on your team, and allow them to continue onward without having to wait for you; or waiting for you to catch back up to them. |

Just put on /dance and go AFK. That's what everyone else does :P BTW, it is really cheesy to go into a mission and go AFK. Had someone do that and he said "Go ahead and finish w/o me so I can have it accomplished on my map" Heck with that ...don't be lazy. Last edited by The IOU; May 05, 2005 at 10:12 PM // 22:12.. |
