Question about controlling pets.
Last night I was given a quest in the catacombs. Because I'm a necro the quest giver told me to trigger the traps with my animated minions, but I wasn't able to figure out how to control them. Three quick deaths later I finished the quest and it was all cool, but the problem still persists.
If anyone knows how to do this it would be greatly appreciated if they shared the knowledge, because right now all the pets do is attack a target after I attack it. |

Hmm ok last question than, is there any way to target which corpse you wish to effect, since the ground in that area is littered with bodies it seems to just take the closest one. Also it would be useful to be able to target which corpse you are about to explode.
Thanks for the help. |

This is a tough mission to avoid dying in.
Try to get as close to the guysers as possible then use your animate bone horror. When you get the pet, back up and it will run across the guyser and poof on to the next one. Forgot to mention the bone horror will rise from the closest corpse, can choose anymore |

It's not that difficult. You really don't have to be all that close for the Animate Bone Horror to work..

I didn't use the animated horrors to get pass all of those guysers. I some how managed to run pass them all (the first 2 are easy, the sides have space to run past). However, on the 3rd, last guyser, it looks like you can run pass it too. Just that you have to click on the side, instead of a straight path.
For example; X..S.............. - Click on the side area(X), instead of walking straight passed it(S). ..|(GUYSER)|.. - | wall, guyser, wall .||............||. - | wall, path, wall .||A..........||. - | wall, A (You), Wall PS- This is all from memory, I might have illustrated some of the walls, and path ways incorrectly.. But it looks right. |

Back to the original question though...
Is there a way to at least rein in your pet? I'm playing a ranger and sometimes a monster will flee the area and my silly pet will follow it into a huge swarm of bad guys, and they all come running at me. Silly thing has gotten my whole party wiped out like that! So I just am looking for a "HEEL" command. Is there one!? |

Ya, pets are stupid. You have no control over them at all. They attack anything you attack, then don't stop until it's dead. Anet really needs to add some sort of pet window with basic commands like attack and follow.

Only control besides attack I can think of - You can get your pet to run with you from a fight by clicking on the ground near you as you move. It may just need a double-click but personally I just keep clicking, since if the pursuing mobs hit it with anything it'll turn to fight. My cat is generally still alive by the time the mobs stop chasing, or else we've both recovered enough to resume fighting.
This works with henchmen too, though the tanks tend to stay behind and die. It doesn't really work at close range, as the pet/henchman usually just get agro again immediately. Also, using tab (or means of targeting OTHER than clicking) and only skills/spells on a mob will not cause your pet to attack. It'll only go in when you click the mob or hit spacebar. This helps when mobs are up on a ridge or something and you don't want your animal suiciding on it's way there. So yeah, while not replacing a decent UI or command list for pets, you can still make them behave sorta. =) Last edited by Reprobus; May 06, 2005 at 04:56 AM // 04:56.. |

All you do is raise a minion from a body on the other side of the trap and then back away. The minion will try to follow you, through the trap and poof it's clear. If your spell raises a minion from a different body then try again. Easy as pie....
