you can pretty much tear down and rebuild your character within limits
change your secondary after level 20 redistribute your attributes switch skills around it is a labor of love to create a really bad character and it doesnt take that long if you decide to try something altogether new with a fresh character there are many level 20 characters already and the game has been out less than 2 weeks |

Believe me, it's impossible to screw up, everything is undoable, this is the game for casual gamers that all the casuals have wanted forever.
I'll also say, the tutorial is pretty good, but the first 3 quests I did after I left the tutorial were some of the most exciting times I've ever had in an MMORPG and I've played all of them. Just great. Huge battles, story driven, interesting quests. Not just stupid fedex stuff like those other games. It's DoaC's cool quests times 10. Warrior/Monk Warrior/Ranger Warrior/Necro Warrior/Mezmer describes what you'd like to be. They all have a mix of heals and melee. |

Its not complicated at all. If you browse around "The Campfire" section (The builds section. It can be found here.) it could give you some ideas on what you want to build. If you want to heal and do melee damage, then you will want to go Warrior/Monk. If you want to heal while you steal life from your enemy, albeit not as much as a heal, but still a pretty decent heal that does damage to enemies, then you want to go Warrior/Necromancer.
As for skills and learning them, you can learn any skill of your two professions, assuming you learned two professions in pre-searing (pre-searing is another term for the tutorial in the beginning of the game. The tutorial is before the Charr attack the city Ascalon. The attack is called "The Searing", thusly the tutorial is called "Pre-Searing" and after the attack is called "Post-searing.). There are two types of points that you should not get mixed up. There are Skill Points. Skill points allow you to buy skills from a skill trainer. There are also Attribute Points. Attribute points allow you to raise your attributes of your two profesions, which allow you to do more damage, heal for more, or buff yourself better. You earn Atribute points by leveling up your character. Im not entirely sure how you can earn skills points. I know you can get them from quests, but thats all I know so far. I have 14 of them, but I don't knwo how . You can also learn skills from quests. Trust me, once you get the game everything will make sense. Its not a complicated process at all. Hope you buy the game and enjoy it as much as I do! |

You earn one skill point each time you level up, as well as each time you complete a mission.
Spent skill points can NOT be refunded, however there is no limit to the number of skill points you can get. Once you are level 20, you can continue to fill up the EXP bar. When you fill the bar, it resets to 0 again but you stay at level 20, and you can fill it up as many times as you wish. Each time the bar is filled you get another skill point... so you can go on grinding skill points as long as you want after level 20 and eventually learn every skill available... |
